omg, i was so excited when i got this leather jacket, the one i’ve been searching for over the past year or so. perfection. at a reasonable price at Buffalo Exchange in Austin.
put that with a super vintage dress that was my great aunt’s or something. it’s a bit snug about the hips, but juli’s mom told me that girls that wore leather when she went to school wore tight skirts and were bad.
i’m bad. like michael jackson.
sheer tights. i had jules draw seams on the back with a sharpie. i thought turquoise would look cool. it didn’t exactly turn out perfect.
flat shoes. i reminded me of the girls dancing in the opening scene of this sixties indian movie. (search “Jan Pehechaan Ho” on youtube)
some drunk dude at the bar thought i said my name was Sylvadere. really? that’s not even close.
me and Em just happened to have very similar outfits, so we had a little BA photoshoot, pretending we were in a rock group.

oh. this dress, after madeline had gained a bit of weight, was handed down to me.
oh. i love her so much.
it fit so incredibly perfectly i was giggling from the moment i put it on, and going around all night telling everyone how great i looked. no, i didn’t care for their opinions, i already knew.
but it was cold AS BALLS, so i layered some bright colors, trying not to cover up too much, or look too showy. afterall, i’m not sure solid sequins are normal attire for a rock show at a bro bar.
a long string of pearls. steel toe boots. tiny leather purse.
second hand billowy orange sweater.
yellow opaque tights, under ripped turquoise tights. hotpink and black socks.
turquoise scarf. knit cap. pink thermal undershirt.
fairly recently, I had my hair cut shorter, and i’m working on growing out my bangs a bit. because benj thought it would be cute, and i think he’s right.
he’s the one taking these pictures, outside of ihop. i’m standing with jules in the freezin’ cold.
she’s wearing a Miley Cyrus fake leather jacket she bought for cheap at walmart, which she lovingly refers to as “milers”. well, i’m all for cheap clothes, but something about that jacket just makes me sick. probably because i’m part snob. part slob. but it’s whatever.
on this very chilly night, she hadn’t dressed appropriately, so i lent her some hoisery. red tights, with vertically striped black ones overneath. i love those striped ones, i really hope she gives them back!

gaaaaaahd, i love the winter weather.
mom’s steel-toe boots.
benJ’s green argyle socks.
striped footless tights.
plaid skirt, bought second hand, with leopard patches sewn in by the previous owner.
dad’s old t-shirt from some art thing in the eighties, i just so happened to come across a picture from that event this very day.
vintage wool coat. it’s incredibly wonderful. there’s a gorgeous high waisted skirt to match, but not tonight.
this was a monday. we hit the starbar for a college art show. it was okay.

nope, i’m not looking particularly good. you shoulda seen me at the end of this sweaty, rainy, muddy festival day. i think our gang looked pretty super awesome. don’t you? we just happened to all come out wearing skinny pants. chris and cait happened to be wearing nearly the exact same outfit, and wes is wearing my dickiesgirl jeans. perfect fit! once we were at the park and it started pouring, my friends naysayed my choice of a white shirt. but i had my jacket on the whole time, and there was no crisis. but that didn’t stop anyone from making some creepy comments. ugh.
gonzosirens t-shirt. that’s a local band, this is a v-neck hanes undershirt that they spray painted with stencils.
frog backback.
foreverXXI skinny pants, black and blue lumberjack gingham. they don’t always flatter me.
old colorful converse high tops with beads in the laces. they were COVERED in mud at the end of the day, all the way up to the calves, all of us.
a flower in my hair, handed to me by the adorable benJ (to my right).

i had to steal this picture from somebody on facebook, so it’s poor quality. i’m walking into an art show at the skating rink with benJ. we attended this event mainly because we missed a really big show in town on monday, and i felt it would be good to make an appearance.
i’m wearing a high waisted blue plaid skirt.
a local (bmt/atx) band shirt, green american apparel.
dark burgundy velvet coat. i absolutely love this thing, but i need to sew new buttons on.
black and white striped knee-high socks with red hearts at the top, from hottopic.
big clunky mary jane wingtip shoes. i think they’re my mom’s.
and pigtails.
being super awkward like i usually am when i walk into places,
and when there’s a camera pointing at me without warning.
2nd pic: i’m with my brother’s girlfriend. the band shirt is La Snacks, and i didn’t realize until after the event that one of the guys from the band was there. i usually avoid that at all cost, but it was no biggie.

my boyfriend BenJ came into town unexpectedly. i was so excited, i threw on a short skirt.
this is a very simplified version of what i wore, but i liked it simple, too.
giant old faded t-shirt from my mom. it has glow-in-the-dark skeletons all over the front. and it’s gigantic.
to offset the frump, tight short skirt. like, real short. benj was like, “wow this skirt is real short” but he certainly didn’t mind. it’s checkered, and i got it from dickiesgirl.com
purple tights from target. i can’t wear short skirts without opaque tights. and i thought it was supposed to be cold.
converse boots. because why not?
i also wore a skinny belt around my waist outside the shirt,
and my black slip under the skirt with the lace trim showing,
as well as a couple of jackets.
it was wet outside, but it wasn’t too cold. me and ginny ate and went malling, then i picked up my boy. we wandered the studio until we thought we heard someone else in the building, got spooked, and left. i got him home before curfew. strict ’rents are the pits.
…
upon review of these photos i’m reminded of how ridiculously large my thighs are.
wow. sorry ’bout that.
