About My Style

My style is all over the place. I’m basic, but I can be pretty “extra”. Really heavy into dresses right now but I’m still discovering my style as it’s ever evolving. Gonna attempt to step outside of [my] box a little…

Christmas Day   Add as Favorite Photo

Dec 31, 2009 0 comments

Aside from my family telling me that I looked like a “christmas ornament” and a “wrapped present” I had fun wearing this outfit on Christmas Day 2009. I thought it was bright, bold and festive! And yes, that is a Christmas bow ornament in my hair. Owning a hot glue gun will make you do some crazy things :)

Suiting on a Budget..   Add as Favorite Photo

Nov 28, 2009 0 comments

I wore this outfit out to a couple back to back events in New Orleans on November 27, 2009. The first event I was going to be in a room full of dignitaries (Senators, Congressman, Mayors, City Council people, etc.) The second event was a “Who’s Who” event with more dignitaries and a few more younger, contemporary business people peppering the room. Both events were super nice, but my dilemma was what to wear to both.

I already had the pants from Target which I love because they have front side pockets, side tabs and button flap back pockets ($25) The blazer came from Walmart’s George line, it’s lined and I only paid $15 for it. The blouse I purchased from Love Culture and I just thought it was cute ($17). I’m a huge sucker for a cute top. HUGE. And the back of the top is the cutest. Too bad it was too cold to take my jacket off. The “shooties” I recently purchased and had never worn them out until these events. In other words, they were hardly broken in. BIG MISTAKE. I was out of them and into a pair of ballet flats before I even got to the 2nd event.

Overall, I thought it was a nice, subtle alternative to a stuffy pant suit.

My DIY Gingham Dress with Pockets...   Add as Favorite Photo

Oct 25, 2009 0 comments

Remember when I first showed off my still yet to be complete gingham dress? I called it my “Mad Men” Dress (CHECK IT OUT HERE) well I finally got the zipper in and it’s done! Pretty pleased with how it came out. It’s a complete throwback kinda look though, but I’m cool with that.

Check out my blog HIP CANDY to see the inspiration behind this dress.
