after a long time.   Add as Favorite Photo

i haven’t updated with photos in forever (not that i update all that often in the first place). mostly because my camera battery was dead and i couldn’t be bothered to do anything about it, but also because this summer has been very trying in many ways. that isn’t to say that fashion has been put aside in my life. in fact, it’s become something of a priority!

starting september 12, i will be updating from venice. i have no plans to bring my camera (knowing only too well how talented italian thieves have a tendency to be) so updates would be rare and possibly of poor quality. but with a semester abroad in mind, i set out to assemble my perfect wardrobe of high-quality, modern pieces that can be mix-and-matched. the best part about it is that i really didn’t spend very much money- thank you, incredible thrifting talents!

i admit that this new wardrobe completely breaks any and all attempts to stray from head-to-toe black and combinations of black/white/grey. it is fantastic nonetheless. hence this beautiful photo of audrey, who inspired my wardrobe project every step of the way. and it also happens to be a perfect depiction of the way i’ve been feeling lately. take it however you will.

more exotic inspiration. i was at the national gallery in DC and in the background of a photo from the fifties (i’m a complete nut when it comes to looking at photography— i love to notice the smallest elements of a photo. maybe its my own pickiness that prevented me from pursuing photography further…) there was this woman in a completely safari-inspired dress. i have yet to find the perfect match of that dress, but until then, here is my outfit: inspired by a woman inspired by a fictional adventuress of the safari.

get my shotgun [used only on poachers, not animals].

lately my clothing has taken on sort of an exotic theme. also, i painted my room the happiest, most incredible buttery yellow. :)

i was wearing these interesting earrings that were a present for my birthday from my mama. they completely got me hooked on earrings that don’t have a post/are all one piece. there are about 20 ‘favorites’ on my etsy now… too bad i don’t get paid until this friday!!!

this was worn for my family’s little memorial day celebration. which consisted mostly of me, a margarita, and guacamole partying it up together. :P

i wish you could see the little flowery earrings! they’re just darling, but clip-ons hurt after a long while. i suppose this is what i get for having ever thought that stretching my ears to almost a half inch was a good idea. not that i have anything against it, but for me it wasn’t the best idea in the long run.

btw: may i draw attention to my huge, gold, rhinestone-d pimp watch?

lastly, i look a bit like woody allen in the second photo and have been cracking up about it for like, five minutes. :)

OKAY WAIT. just taking this time to announce that i officially got to change my body type from “flat bottom” to “average bottom” in the account settings. even though i’ve been gaining weight, i guess it’s nice to know that i at least achieved my new year’s resolution of having a fabulous ass. to put it bluntly.

still no color?   Add as Favorite Photo

it continued to be rather cold when i got home to my boston suburb, but it’s warmed up since these photos and i promise that color has been sneeking into my daily outfits! perhaps even overtaking them.

oy, though. there is so little to do here that i’ve taken to eating as a hobby and things are starting to become- shall we say- ill-fitting. there’s nothing worse than putting on a dress and realizing it doesn’t fit you the way it did a few weeks ago. i’m about ready to buy a freaking self-help book, but the real solution is a job. not that i haven’t applied to every gallery position in the tri-state area…

enough of my complaints!

tom's birthday   Add as Favorite Photo

last night was my friend tom’s birthday party, so i wanted to wear something comfortable, movable, and fun. this outfit was all three :)

worn with this crazy khaki safari jacket i found at good will. its tag actually says “BANANA REPUBLIC SAFARI & TRAVEL CLOTHING CO.” which is like a revelation to me about the meaning behind the term “banana republic.” at least the jacket is awesome.

and the purple shirt is one of those pieces i found and didn’t try on until i got home and then it was like oh this one is definitely going to be in my closet until it’s in shreds. i absolutely love silk and this was suchhhhhh a good find :D :D :D

lastly… these photos were taken the morning after, so i promise my hair was a lot more cohesive last night haha
