For my sake, I’m abbreviating over the knee socks to OTK. Anyway, I’ve had this odd obsession with OTK socks for awhile, but for some reason I never go out and get them myself.
Any Canadians out there who could reccomend a place to get them for a decent price?
For all the Americans etc. out there, where I live (that’s Vancouver), we do have:
-H&M
-Zara
-Forever 21
Just incase you knew some place :)!
Thanks <3! xoxo
posted over 3 years agoTry H&M. If the Canadian stores are stocking the same as the British stores (which I think they do) they should have quite a selection. I got some there the other day and they had a really good selection of neutral colours in both regular and cable knit.
posted over 3 years agoi’ve found the larger h&m’s in canada usually have a pretty good selection of over the knee socks, but they are still harder to find as most of the socks they have are just knee high, which are too short for my preference.
do you have any stores called clic klak in vancouver? they’re all over toronto and sell tons of stockings and socks… kind of cheap quality though.
i used to work at ardene and stocked up on OTK socks from them, and they’re lovely! they have a tendency to sell out quick though (the solid neutral coloured ones at least). they are cheap too, 3 for 10, or 5 for 10, depending on what the sale of the time is.
le chateau sometimes has them, but they’re pricier.
sometimes other clothing stores will have a small section of socks and stuff, alongside wherever their accessories are. and not necessarily just mall stores either.
department stores might have some as well, you will have to hunt through the huge hosiery section though.
i have found some really nice stockings in those before, made of merino wool, they were expensive but they are so warm and soft it was worth it! i wear them all winter and don’t get that cold. people look at me like im crazy wearing tights and a skirt in the dead of winter. (the brand name escapes me at the moment, but it starts with a v )
legs beautiful, but again im not sure if there are any vancouver locations. that store is a stockings/sock haven.
i think american apparel has some too. i dont know how much they go for there.
i’m still personally on the hunt for some nice knit super long otk socks made of wool or at least a wool blend, that dont cost a fortune. will have to hit the stores soon and see what they’ve got, i haven’t been out shopping for these in a while.
or maybe i should learn how to knit and make them myself! oh i wonder if some one on etsy makes them.. (haha sorry im going off on a tangent now)
WOWOWWO. Thank you guys sooo much! I’m definitely going to go and buy some from Ardenes and H&M now. I just went this past weekend and I forgot to reply (sorry!) and they’re all knee high. I’m kind of curious, since I am on the petite side (5’2") if they would reach OTK? I’m thinking of getting one pair of gray and one white… or possibly go completely nutters at Ardenes and just buy out the entire store ;)!
I went to Ardene’s but all the neutrals were sold out, just as you said raapunzel! Grrr frustration, but I will get my socks. DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE TANGENT, I’ve always wanted to knit my own too… perhaps I should make it a DIY project. :)
Thanks for all the tips <3!!! xoxo
posted over 3 years agoH&M’s knee high won’t reack otk. I’m 5’0 and they only go otk if I stretch them quite a bit. If you really want otk then you’re best waiting to see if they get any in. Don’t get the knee high or else you will be disappointed.
posted over 3 years agoOooh SWEEET. I was about to go and get them this weekend, but now that you warned me… :) I know!
Goodness I’m getting so much help with this!! <3 Thank you allllll!
posted over 3 years agojust remember for next year: ardene will start getting their shipments of over the knee socks in august, sales pick up on them within the next month as people start noticing they want/need them.
posted over 3 years agoagree.
American Apparel has awesome ones.
and a variety of textures and colors!
That’s what my friends were saying too, but the price is fairly steep. I suppose the price is worth the quality :)
Thank you <3!
