I’ve seen how much some of the overly flashy dresses that Windsor carries can run and I don’t see why not shop online at a place like Revolve (I’ve got coupon codes if anyone needs ‘em) or Tobi in their sale section for something that’s way more contemporary, chic, and that you’ll get way more mileage out of. I know girls like to splurge on prom dresses, so why not make it count?posted almost 7 years ago
Everyone I know wants a Jovani dress. Some of them are indeed pretty, but I just can’t see any of them being worn more than once other than passing the dress around when a friend is invited to someone else’s prom and has no dress.
When I went to this dress store with my friends, some of the dresses there were terrible, including a pink and green plaid one. And sadly some other girl in the store said she really liked it.
If and when I go to prom I’m going to go vintage, make something myself or go all out and buy a really nice dress I know I’d wear over and over again because I’d WANT to.posted almost 7 years ago
Since everything in my town is overpriced, tacky/polyester and you will always find someone with the same dress as you, I’m making my own!
I’m taking a long, plain white silk dress I got on sale at a department store, shortening it, doing some couture-like bodice work and then possibly painting some design.posted almost 7 years ago
@catherinee. Yeah, I don’t get the hype with Jovani prom dresses. Are they suppose to be like the Chanel of prom dresses? Most of them look like Barbie clothes to me.posted almost 7 years ago
Pretty much! And they’re rather expensive, around $400-500. I don’t see the point!
I came across a Facebook group for my school where the people post pictures of their dresses, and most of them are pretty awful. They remind me of Barbie dresses except trashier.posted almost 7 years ago
Catherinee, my class did the same thing last year. All were short or princess style.posted almost 7 years ago
Oops! I thought the topic was “porn dresses” But prom dresses are very important, if you ask me. I spent 50 bucks and that taught me a good lesson why prom dresses are very important…(as burning my pics from prom). I repressed my memeoriesposted almost 7 years ago
I actually went vintage for my prom…
it was a bit cheaper (only about $200 for the dress & coat)
it was a 1950ish red silk with a matching boat neck cape coat :)))
I wish I could still wear it >.<
