Finally, a chance to speak my mind on my biggest pet peeve with women’s fashion. I see it perpetrated all the time. Women who wear either a high heel or chunky wedge, who cannot actually walk in them. I see women all the time tromping around in these shoes for the sake of fashion yet they walk in a very unnatural way that makes them look ridiculous.

Well Im not the kinda girl who can just stand round all night. I have slight ADHD and I cant sit still for very long. I like to move around, talk to people, DO things. Not to mention I walk almost everywhere… I am in love with shoes and heels but if Im not able to get around in them I cant wear them…

If you can’t walk in them, don’t wear them. It doesn’t matter if you’re ‘just standing around’ or ‘sleeping in them.’ You look ridiculous when you walk, or tottering on them while still. There are plenty of shoes out there that make you talker and sexier without the detriment of immobility.

I like high heels but occasionally have “fashion downtime” and I stop being used to them. Re-learning is awkward :)

Yeah, no. I may walk badly in my heels sometimes but they make me look good…standing up.
Whatever, it doesn’t matter, to each his own.

I wear heels that I can only walk slowly in at first. I think there is a myth that walking around in them at your house will help. I’ve walked days fine in my house, but once out the door I have to navigate uneven paths, gravel, ginormous hills, etc. Maybe it’s from living in the countryside but with varying grounds the only real practice is to be found outside…

it takes a trained leg/foot to walk in heels all the time. of course it requires graduating from kitten heels to stilettos. a fabulous girl who cant walk in her shoes gets minus points from me. moreover, a fabulous girl who does not take the weather into account, gets a ‘you must be dense’ look from me. because being in pain and being cold/hot for the sake of fashion is pure nonsense. this is all just my honest opinion. cheers!

I don’t think anyone was born to walk in heels, therefor practice is needed for the people that WANT to start wearing heels for a more womanish/classy/stripper pole look. I’ve had to practice loads of times walking in stilettos for prom, and I got it. but I don’t know anyone who can just jump up in stilettos without having previous experience in them.
there is another reason why women may look funny walking in them: their feet are killing them. i can walk perfectly in heels for hours then look like a duck treading a hill.

I love wearing heels, but if I can’t walk like I own the place in them then forget it.

I have a friend who wears ridiculously high heels but can’t walk in them worth a dam*. Makes me sometimes embarrassed to be in public with her cause she looks like a grandmother! LOL

If I was 5’8 I would totally wear sky high heels but alas, I am a shorty, so it doesn’t have the same effect. I stick with wedges most of the time. You don’t have to be a pro to walk in those bad boys. But I see what most of you were saying. Practice makes perfect ladies ;)

I totally agree with you. If you can’t walk in them just don’t wear them, it looks ridiculous! :D

if they’re not comfy, I won’t wear them. I never wear heels as thin as stilettos, because it’s simply not practical for me. wedges I’m fine with—I walk the same as I would wearing flats, it’s just that I’m like 3" taller lol.

but imo if you’ve just started wearing heels for the first time, chances are you’ll walk a little unnatural—if you don’t try, you’ll never learn.

I totally agree! I cannot walk in heels or wedges. Not even a small one. Therefore I don’t try. I just wear flat shoes all the time.

I know on a personal experience that there is very convenient footwear and on the contrary. THEREFORE IF YOU BADLY WEAR HEELS, don’t carry at once very high heel. IN MY OPINION, the most convenient heel is 7 centimeters.

So very true.  It burns my butt, and I wish I could give them a class to show them how to walk or rather work a pair of heels
