I would say enlist the help of online craft sites like http://www.craftster.org
It’s all one big forum devoted to DIY projects that can be made by hand or machine. All you have to do is ask for help in the right section. I personally prefer hand sewing because I’m afraid of those needles going at hyperspeed >< lolposted almost 7 years ago
I’m a professional dressmaker, my tip for you is to use a tailor’s chalk to do your markings and guide lines. Another tip is to iron as you sew (this goes the same with using a machine to sew too actually)

I always hand-sew : ) Have no idea how to use a machine. I just pin an outline and start from there xDposted almost 7 years ago

i hand sew some things, even though I have a sewing machine. Sometimes the machine just can’t do certain things, or i need better accuracy in small areas…honestly, just pay very close attention to your stitches, take your time, and practice before hand on some scraps!posted almost 7 years ago
Take your time, don’t try and rush it, because that’s when it becomes sloppy, and the average person will be able to know you sewed it by hand. same goes for using a machine though. Just take your time, and pay attention to detail. haha.posted almost 7 years ago
Yes, definitely pin ur clothes first… and if you have fabric chalk, you can draw a light line using a ruler for heming and then brush it off after you’ve finished ur sewing. Good luck!posted almost 7 years ago
