I posted a topic similar to this not long ago and the advice given to me was it can be done. However, I am still struggling. I try to avoid it.posted almost 8 years ago
I was never a huge fan before, but the key is to find the right browns. Usually, the darker the brown, the less I like it when paired with black. Try and find “orangey” browns, it’s a little brighter and usually off-sets the black nicely. :)posted almost 8 years ago
Hmmmm, I’m afraid I don’t like blacks and browns together to be honest. Which is a pain for me cos I have brown hair, brown eyes and brown skin, so sometimes I think I look a bit naff wearing black. But I like colour anyway.posted over 7 years ago
Rules have no real place in fashion. You can make practically anything work. =)posted over 7 years ago

This has been a big issue for me because I have so many brown bags and so many black shoes… but no black bag, and no brown shoes!! I’ve been able to find some brown shoes recently, but still have yet to find a great black bag. My poverty guarantees I’ll be without a nice black bag for a long time.
I also agree with InstantVintage that rules don’t have a place in fashion.posted over 7 years ago
I don’t think it’s that bad as long it’s not an overwhelming mix like a completely black dress and a brown belt or something…posted over 6 years ago
i think it can be done.
one of my favourite combinations is black skinnies with a mocha brown draped leather jacketposted over 6 years ago
