Does winged eyeliner work smoother and better with liquid eyeliner or regular eyeliner?

Liquid eyeliner is definitely smoother, for me.

liquid liner is the best for wings. Pencil eyeliner is for more of a smoky look and it tends to smudge easier than liquid. Also, pencil eyeliner can’t make a very sharp wing.

Liquid liner is smooth and makes the perfect winged liner. I recommend Kevyn Aucoin precision liner. Some people can manage a flawless wing with a gel liner and brush too and I’d try Stila for that. Eyeliner pencils are typically meant for smudging and smoky eyes but I have seen a winged look done before. It just takes more steps to get it as sharp… and black.

I always used liquid eyeliner before for my winged liner but i am in love with using gel eyeliner now, it is less messy, dry faster and stay longer

I prefer liquid most of the time – i find it’s pretty easy after practicing a bit, and gives the cleanest line. But if you’re not going out for long, and want a softer, smokier look, try pencil :)

If you want a precise, sharp winged eyeliner, I would say go with liquid or gel. I recommend the Stila Water-Proof eyeliner $20 and quite expensive.. but nevertheless it’s a wonderful eyeliner. But if you don’t want to splurge, I would recommend the Maybelline Stiletto eyeliner. :)

If you want a smokey look, pencil or crayon would work just fine as well.

Hope this helps!

Get a liquid eyeliner pen (maybelline makes one that stays on really well for cheap). It’s really good to use the pen liner when doing wings, especially if you’re a beginner at doing them. Also, a good tip is to draw the wing with your eye open following the line of your bottom lid, then close your eye and fill it in. It really will give you a better starting base.
