Lately I’ve been bored of my hair, I never dyed it. I thought maybe about switching up the color, I’m not sure. My hair does get kind of dry. I’ve heard that dyeing your hair dries it out or even makes it fall out. Is that true? What are your experiences with it cause I’m not sure if it’s worth it. Thanks.
posted about 3 years agoI think dying your hair is a great way to change up your appearance. I am all for it. Except dying it too often WILL make it dry and make your hair fall out. My friend dyed her whole head twice this year, and if you pull on her hair, it just comes out. I think getting your tips dyed and getting highlights are more natural.
posted 11 months agoI think it’s worth it, especially if it’s not too dramatic of a change, for example if you went from dark brown to bleach blond, it would fall out (but not completely)

My friend bleaches her hair and has bleached her brown hair for years. Her hair now rarely grows because of the damage caused. So if you’re hoping to grow your hair long, do so before dying your hair. Of course, the damage my friend suffered was due to years of bleaching, and dying it less often and with a less harsh color will have better results.

If you do dye your hair, don’t do it yourself. Get it professionally done. If you do it yourself, chances are you will a) fry your hair or b) use an “organic” product that keeps the hair healthy but bleeds onto everything your hair touches. Henna red hair dye = pink towels and pillows.

posted 10 months agoYes, dyeing your hair is susceptible to dryness but aside from dyeing (which is a form of hair treatment) you also have to go to the salon regularly for other hair treatment like hair spa so you can maintain a beautiful and healthy colored hair :)
posted 10 months agoTry resisting the trend of dyeing your hair. I haven’t ever dyed my hair (I’m 17) and I’ve planned to keep them like this for a loooong time. I hate to damage them.
P.S: My friend got beautiful blonde ends by using chamomile. She says it’s damage-free
posted 10 months agoI’ve been dying my hair for nearly 7 years now and have had nearly every color imaginable. Nearly all of my dyes have been from box kits, and I think how it turns out depends on what quality of kit you’re willing to buy and who helps you dye your hair. The only time I ever got patches was when the person doing my hair wasn’t paying attention. lol As for unhealthy, it will dry out a bit and even break off at the ends, no matter if you’re doing it at home or in salon.
I’m going back to my natural color after not seeing it for 7 years. It’s easy if you grow your roots out an inch or two to see what color you’ll need. You’ll also want to do this at the salon, as the stylist should be a pro at finding the perfect color and mixture. Basically, if you think changing your hair color will make you happy, then go for it! You can always dye it back to your original color (with a little time). posted 10 months agothe best decision of mine regarding my hair was to go ahead and colour it red..i love it..i have been doing it for 5 years almost now.just make sure to condition your hair every time you shampoo.and deep condition it once or twice a month.which you should be doing anyway for soft hair.if you want to go ahead with temporary colours to start with and if you decide no you like your natural hair colour then problem solved you won’t do it again.i can’t experiment with my hair at 40(or maybe i will) so why not do it now!
posted 10 months agoDo not bleach your hair unless you’re ready to deal with the consequences, because most of the time it’s up to your hair type of how it will react. My biggest allies have always been deep conditioner and olive oil. It helps to keep the natural moisture in your hair, but also adds more strength to the hair that you’re stripping. If you are going with a new color, go with one close to your natural color just to try out if you want the hair color change. It’s best for you to go to a salon, to get it professionally done, rather than you or your friends do it because sometimes when you’re with your friends you forget what time you have wash it out and sometimes someone gets a stupid idea to leave it in longer which damages your hair worse.
My sister, a close friend, and I have been doing so many hair changes recently, we’ve decided to stop as a pack because one of us was close to have our hair fall out and the other was getting shorter and shorter from the damage and breakage. Take it from someone who experiments with hair way too much. hahah good luck!

I’ve been dying my hair since I was thirteen (I’m seventeen now), and I’ve never had the dry hair problem. But if you’re naturally prone to dry hair, I would a) make sure you let a professional dye your hair, as well as bleach it, and b) use a TON of conditioner.
posted 10 months agoI’ve been dyeing my hair for about ten years now. It’s been brown, black, blonde, pink, and purple… since my natural color is a medium brown, I’ve had to bleach it a lot! My hair has never fallen out. It’s always been pretty frizzy, and has gotten a little more so since I’ve been bleaching for a few years now, but it’s not too bad. I think it helps that my hair is very thick. If you’re nervous, go to a professional first. Using lots of conditioner and hair masks will help too. Don’t be scared – you can always dye it back, and it will always grow back out! Have some fun with it!
posted 10 months agoI have bleached my naturally dark hair a million times to make it red and yeah, every time I do it its like- why did I do this again? It really dries it out and I just have to condition it to death. Check out my photos at chictopia- the last results (red were obtained with bleach) and you can compare to my previous haircolor- (black) and you can see it was really healthy like a “pantene” ad. It has fallen off a little. Coloring alone is not going to hurt it so bad but make sure that you can achieve the shade you want with just color alone. and also, if it is your first time, it wont damage the hair as much either. Good luck, I hope this helps!
posted 10 months agoI can say it’s worth it if you want to have a new look. It’s just dye, your hair will soon out grow it. Plus it’s not bad to explore. You just have to be careful in choosing the products you use so that you can achieve the look you desire. :)
