I’m not sure if there is a thread about this already, but I am curious what my fellow Chictopians think about plastic surgery/cosmetic procedures. I find it quite disturbing how mainstream it seems to have gotten – even in my small town several girls have gotten (obvious) breast augmentations and many more are showing up with (obviously) collagen-filled lips. I would never judge someone if they wanted to change something about themselves they always hated, but it’s alarming to me that looking obviously artificial has become somewhat of a trend. What do you think?

i used to hate my small boobs and desperately wanted surgery. although i still have my moments, i have realised that cosmetic surgery for that would be a pathetic idea, you can still have tiny boobs and be sexy: “http://www.blogcdn.com/www.styledash.com/media/2008/07/sexy-ads-4.jpg”;

but who knows, after i’ve has kids and things begin to, er, droop down south, i may reconsider… but i hate that plastic look!

I hate plastic surgery. It always look fake and unnatural. Being small busted, I never even think going under the knife and make them bigger. I love them just the way they are even they sag, I think, that’s the way it should be. :)

Come to think of it, celebs/ models also have small breasts and they still look great! http://www.sugarchilli.com.au/blog/the-%E2%80%9Ca%E2%80%9D-list-sized-stars-small-busted-big-names/ So why fret about it?

I don’t recommend getting cosmetic surgery unless you’re 100% sure what you want and you can pay for it in cash, just like a tattoo or body piercing. It’s a big risk if you don’t end up liking it (no matter how good the doc is, you can still not like it). You also don’t want to get into debt from surgery because you have (or will have) more important things to take out loans on…like houses, cars, and educations.

Reconstructive surgery, the kind that breast cancer patients and car accident survivors get, is a very important kind of plastic surgery.The goal in reconstructive surgery isn’t to make the area aesthetically perfect, just to put it back to the way it was. If you or someone you love needs reconstructive surgery, then by all means go for it.

I’m super flat chested. I used to want to get surgery but I just feel like it looks so fake. Plus there are a ton of risks. I wish I could just borrow some boob from my friend haha. I’ll just deal with being flat.

I would get everything if I had the money. I will probably get a nose job, lip injections and a boob job one day when I have moved into my own place and saved a hefty amount in my bank account. When I’m older I’ll most definitely get a face lift!!

If you want it, get it. But don’t get it because you feel like thats the way women should look, because its not. I think everyone is meant to look the way that they are, without surgery. I would never change my body for cosmetic reasons, but thats just me.

Agree. They never think of the dangers that lay below, the just look at the surface.

I agree that certain procedures are more obvious than others, such as collagen injections and what not. That being said, I don’t think lumping all of cosmetic surgery into the same view is fair either.

MOST plastic surgery procedures are done without anyone outside of the patient, Surgeon and their close family and friends, even being aware of the procedure. A skilled facial surgeon can make a nose look natural. A skilled breast specialist will make implants look natural. I have two co-workers who I have been friends with for almost two years and even seeing her in a bikini, I was unaware she had implants. I thought she had an impressive figure, sure, but I had no idea they were implants. That’s a good surgeon and a patient who wants to fly under-the-radar, because they’re doing it for them and not the public. That’s the difference. The same goes for breast reduction surgery too.

The only plastic surgery I would like it;s collagen for lips. I ve seen some girls with it and I like it. Also, I like cosmetic tattoos, like for eyebrows. But I would be too scared to do breast enlargement or other things, I am affraid of surgeries and hospitals...plus..I am afraid of breast cancer.

The only cosmetic surgery I would do is an uplift on my breasts. I am 24 and since my breasts developed they are just too low.. I always need to wear a bra and the backpains areunbearable. So I would certainly do something about it, given the chance. Everything else I find I can fix with make up or going to the gym a little more often! :p
