So I’m going to a rave with my friends and a date tonight. I love dancing and clubs. The normal thing to see on guys around here are collar’d button up shitrs blue straight fit jeans and dress shoes. Whereas I wear usually skinnies converse a graphic or regular tee and sunglasses.
I’m just curious as to what you wear or see people wearing on the dancefloor and whether or not you dress differently or similarly(as I do) off of it as well.
:)
I dress like crazy at raves lol. I love combing styles since.. well, you can get away with it!
I love seeing crazy vests, ties, and accessories on guys.
I think its really cool. Makes me want to dress like a guy to the next one lol
Hope you had fun!

Hey,
Does anyone here have interest in Photography and Art? If so, are you going to school for it? Any blog sites or flickrs? I am working on my blog site to post my work. I’d sure love to see your art or photography.
Are there any poets out there?
b/c I’m really curious to know.
:)
Does it count if I’m an autodidact designer? I volunteer with university student groups doing web design and other art direction business.
If you’re looking for inspiration, I’d suggest behance.net which has a bunch of portfolios.

The best way to cope w/ a break up is by listening to good, feel-good music… any recommendations?? I’ve been listening to “We Are Golden” by Mika http://www.imeem.com/popvideos/video…we-are-golden/ even the video makes me happier and takes my mind off of the ex… Thankfully, some things help.

I looooove Ladyhawke. And she’s coming out with a special edition album which includes 5 new songs AND she drew the cover art herself (yes!) If you haven’t heard of her… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9zcmJayI-8
On the new album is an acoustic version of ‘My Delirium’ which is so so so good!
Do you like her??
words are pouring out like endless rain into a paper cup -the beatles umgd

I havent saw it yet, and I’m wondering was it good movie or not?
I’ve heard that it was a good movie, and then I heard it was TOO long and some say it wasn’t better than the first?
feedback please?
The first one left me super excited! So…when I went to see the second one, I thought it would be as good. Not the case. My boyfriend and I hated the whole thing, and it left me in a rather bad mood..haha.

What’s the difference? I’ve been listening to both and they sound like the same genre to me, they could swap labels and I wouldn’t even notice.
Well, the ska that’s most popular now (I guess you could say none is truly “popular” but contemporary I guess is more appropriate).
I can’t really tell first wave ska and reggae apart, but I guess reggae is still made today and the first wave has clearly passed.
Second wave ska is probably synonymous with two tone, which was influenced by the first wave but still not contemporary. Think of the band the Specials. It originated in Britain.
Third wave ska is basically what’s known as ska today. The bands that coldlight and dorianbubbles mentioned as being ska fit into this category (and are all excellent bands, especially Op Ivy, I’m in loveeee). It’s definitely more punk influenced, but still influenced by two tone.
And just for laughs, I’ll mention that some people believe the fourth wave is on it’s way, since the third wave was big in the very late 80’s (Op Ivy) to the 90’s. There’s a song by a band Streetlight Manifesto called “Riding the Fourth Wave,” referring to ska, haha.
…this is what wikipedia, boredom and a love of ska have done to me.
And just throwing it out there, ska shows are the bestttt. So much fun.

If you fabulous chictopians get the chance, you should try to catch a screening of PRESSURE COOKER. The film follows three seniors from Frankfort High School, whose futures are broadened with the help of Wilma Stephenson, their blunt yet loving culinary arts teacher. Its a hilarious and poignant documentary and certainly is a must-see of the summer, especially if you’re craving something with a bit more substance than the usual blockbusters. Pun intended.

Uhhh this post isn’t creepy at all.
Aw! it’s cute. brought a smile.. i wish i could meet chictopians, without it being creepy, and without it being impossible…

Well, I just wanted to share with y’all how I kinda dug all the outfits in this movie. Captured post-apocalyptic chic pretty well in my book.
this is currently my desktop background.
I thought Sam Worthington and Moon Bloodgood (Marcus Wright / Blaire Williams) had instant chemistry on the screen. Cheesy and abrupt… but still. Good stuff.
Overall, I don’t have much to say except it earned its C from the critics. :T
I know this is irrelevant, in a way, and I know I haven’t seen the movie..yet…, but can I just say, Christian Bale is so good looking.. and I can’t stop loving him.. I need help. hahaha.

Watchmen discussion — both the movie and the graphic novel!
(Because sometimes fashion takes a back seat. Because poorandweird and I are geeks. And because Alan Moore – along with his giant beard – kicks so much ass.)
So, without further ado, a few thoughts & questions…
1. movie!Veidt or novel!Veidt?
I feel more sympathetic to movie!Veidt, since he carries out his masterplan with more of a it’s-a-necessary-evil attitude than an egotistical I-solved-the-world’s-biggest-crisis! attitude. (Not to say that movie!Veidt isn’t egotistical…because he is. Arrogant…patronizing…handsome…bastard. Condescension shouldn’t be so hot.) However, I do like the fact that novel!Veidt elucidates more on his personal philosophy and – what I believe to be genuine – optimism regarding the human will and spirit. As a Classics major, I completely understand his admiration for Alexander the Great. (He probably admires Pelopidas, as well, who is one of my favorite Greek historical figures. Now that I think about it, Pelopidas and Ozymandias are rather similar in character…)
2. movie!Laurie or novel!Laurie?
I think this one’s no contest.
3. Most intelligent – or insert other adjective(s) – Crimebuster? (I’d include the Minutemen, but I don’t think enough information on them has been given to us…I wish that weren’t the case!)
The Comedian, hands down. He’s perhaps not intelligent the way Ozymandias is considered intelligent (although both are – by normal standards – psychopathic in the super-sane sort of way). But I think he does possess the greatest understanding of the potentialities and failings of human nature, and the way the world works (from a human perspective). However, he doesn’t attempt to deliberately separate or distance himself from the rest of mankind as a result, in a me-versus-them way — the way Veidt does (well, he’s more me-above-them, but the Comedian isn’t that delusional). He chooses to revel in his awareness and be “deliberately amoral” (as Manhattan put it), and I find that very compelling, for some reason. The U.S. government thinks that the Comedian is their operative, but in reality he is no-one’s operative. He binds himself to nothing, which I believe is a big part of what makes him and Ozymandias so curiously alike. (They’d be the best of friends, if they didn’t hate each others’ guts so much. [Sigh])
4. Nite Owl II: “We have to compromise…” Rorschach: “No, not even in the face of Armageddon.”
In context of relevance to daily life, I can’t say that I agree with Rorschach’s philosophy, which is incredibly black and white [insert not-so-subtle mask reference]. Ideally, it’s a virtue to never compromise when it comes to your values and principles, but it’s a generally unrealistic standard. I prefer going on a case-by-case basis, because – really – it depends on circumstance. (I try not to be hypocritical, though.)
5. Does Dr. Manhattan have a responsibility to mankind, given the magnitude of his accidental powers?
Hrmm. This is perhaps the toughest question of all, which is why I don’t have a clear-cut answer. On the one hand, he no longer has any motive, empathy, or understanding (given that he now views the world – and essentially lives – on a completely different plane of existence). On the other, what kind of being would he be if he just stood by while the world drove itself into destruction? (I’m tempted to say ‘God,’ but as Manhattan said himself, “I don’t think there is a god, Janey. If there is, I’m not him.”)
6. And the final, giant question: which would you take your chances on, destruction of half of New York City by teleported vaginal squid OR impending nuclear warfare?
At the risk of sounding like I completely lack empathy for the human race (I guess Obama won’t be choosing me to be the replacement Supreme Court judge…), I lean toward obliteration of half of NYC. I’m playing solely by the numbers game — certain 4 million deaths versus potential 100+ million deaths. (Er, let’s pretend I factored in probability calculations, too.) Of course, if I were living in the half of NYC that was to be blown to smithereens….then I’d probably change my tune. Either that or hide out in a self-made bomb shelter until the nuclear holocaust is over, assuming – of course – that there would be one. (Er, peace could still be possible, if Manhattan hadn’t absconded to Mars…? But that would’ve been contingent on Veidt not messing with his future-vision and all that…ah, never mind.)
[Addendum: I also just finished reading Moore’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol. 1, and while it doesn’t top Watchmen – in my opinion – it is nevertheless superb and chock full of snarky fun.]
THOUGHTS?
poorandweird: i find it hard to find anyone that liked the soundtrack. i didn’t mind it, but that’s mainly because of the use of Unforgettable during the Comedian’s murder (i’m a sucker!) and the use of All Along the Watch Tower (because that song is epic and any movie can benefit from it’s use). i agree on your thoughts about Veidt- i think that the movie faltered in that it didn’t provide enough information and depth to such an important character.
in terms of the Dark Knight, i also have not read the graphic novel. i have a friend who’s a huge Batman fan (a LEGITIMATE fan, mainly comics) and it kind of spoils Wayne for me. if we’re on the subject of comics though… how about the Avengers movie coming out in a few years? anyone hear about that (or care for that matter)?

God, I’ve been listening to this genre ALL DAY.
It’s making me completely insane, and wanting to learn the Melbourne Shuffle.
Anyone else interested in this?
Definitely a lover of hardstyle here.
My ex was a DJ that played it at some parties here.
Fuuun times.
I dunno, it’s just dirty and fun.
Gets me hot and bothered.

guys . i already read the novel of Angels and Demons by Dan Brown . it’s such a great novel and i love it !! the movie is in cinema now . i not watch yet . some friends who read the novel and watched the movie told me that they’re so upset with the movie . i really want to watch the movie but i worry i will be upset . if you had seen the movie and read the book, tell me what i suppose to do .
books are always better than the movies most of the time. Books tend to be more detailed.
i read the book like 2 years ago and recently just watched the movie. I think the movie is pretty good but still i pick the book over the movie anyday.

In the past year I’ve been to two museums, which doesn’t seem like a lot, but is the most I can remember going to, and I’ve really enjoyed the experience.
I went to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York about a year ago and last week I went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Since I’m so in love with New York, I was surprised that I was disappointed in MoMA (modern art isn’t my cup of tea) and I liked the Philly museum better!
I saw the Cezanne and Beyond exhibit in Philly and then walked around the rest with a friend. We both loved the Monet section and the European art from the 1800s. Plus, there was a painting of a guy who looked almost exactly like my boyfriend’s dad, so we thought it was priceless!
What I want to know is, do you like to view art, and if so what museum do you like and what painters speak the most to you?
I live in Sydney, Aust, and the last art gallery I went to would have to be the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art). It was awesome, they had a new exhibition on Yayoi Kusama and Australian contemporary drawing. :) Amazing. I’m a big fan of drawing, and some of these artists had appropriated the medium in such a modern way, it really changed your mind on how you viewed drawing itself… Traditionally, people would view drawing as a sort of “preparatory” stage prior to the “real” work, but the exhibition made you really see what could be done with just pencils/graphite/charcoal.
Man, sorry for the overenthusiasm, I just really like drawing, haha.

Hi :D
I am sure that you know the Cobrasnake and his party pictures.
I really like his style of photos where he captures people’s facial expressions that say a lot about the events that he was covering.
Some of my friends think that he is a sell out now and got too arrogant but I still love him!
I think he has sold out, well just a little. I’m in love with those t-shirts he sells. My friend has one and the first day she wore it out, a group of people ask to her picture.
