do you guys have any films you think are particularly fashionable? i mean, besides the obvious media-dubbed “fashion” flicks like Sex and the City or Devil Wears Prada. and besides epic costume design-esque movies like The Cell or period pieces.

i do love all the cheesy fashions of 80s John Hughes movies, Heathers, Satisfaction, among others.

Boondock Saints is awesome for men’s fashion. can’t beat beat up tees and peacoats. or norman reedus for that matter.

Singles is especially awesome now that 90s grunge fashion is making a hardcore revival.

What are your guys’ thoughts? Maybe you can recommend some movies for me to brush up on.

Well, I agree with Cali Vintage, any Jean Luc Godard movie is definitely a must see. Anna Karina is fabulous (Pierrot Le Fou is one example)
I just watched Dirty Dancing recently and it definitely has the most amazing wardrobe!!

mary-kate and ashley movies. they are horrible but I used to watch them allll the time just for the wardrobe. I still love them though..

and another horrible movie, but I liked everything lindsay lohan wore in Georgia Rule

Priceless with Audrey Tatou is wonderful and so French, I love it.

Mrs Henderson Presents is also a firm favorite of mine, the retro fashion is so inspiring and Judi Dench is just amazing in it.

Finally The Fall from Tarsem Singh, it’s a little more fantasy based but utterly fabulous!

Damn, I was going to say Priceless (Hors de Prix) also! I guess you beat me to it.

Dazed & Confused is painfully hip and Marie Antoinette was pretty stunning also.

WendyElizabeth is on track, only I would reccomend watching the actual Warhol films.

And I love the 80’s bohemian clothing in Desperately Seeking Susan, one of the few Madonna films that isn’t universally hated.

I just watched “How to Steal a Million,” a 1960s flick with Audrey Hepburn and Peter O’Toole. Not only is it one of the cleverest movies I’ve seen in a long time, everything in it is so stylish — including the cars!

How to Steal a Million is indeed clever! I love everything about the 60s, especially in reference to the older films. So much better quality and not as cheap.

Ofcourse “Devil wears Prada,” “Sex and The City,” and “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” These are the most recent movies. I haven’t seen any older movies related to fashion but, I would love to watch them and learn more!!

I love Alfred Hitchcock movies…The Birds and Vertigo are one the best. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof…Elizabeth Taylor is smokin’ hot in those outfits. Audrey Hepburn movies…of course. More recent ones would be Penelope and He’s Just Not that Into You. I just love that vintage/quirky style in both movies.
