I may be alone in this feeling, but it’s rather aggravating when members only use this blog to advertise their other blogs. If I’m looking at your picture, I don’t want to be told a million different times in your blog that i should go look at your other blog. I’m not on here to look at everyone’s other blog; I’m here to look at your chictopia blog. If I’m reading your description I want to know about your outfit or your day or the pieces your wearing, not be attacked by links and exclamation points. I extend this to everyone: Please, if you’re not going to take your chictopia blog seriously, then just don’t post. If this is only an outfit to get your name out or something then go somewhere else. It’s rather aggravating.
posted over 2 years agoI agree up to a certain degree :) okay it’s annoying that people just put their blog in there (nothing else) or only write about how much they would like you to visit their blogs, however: I’m one of those who goes around every she doens’t like, which means, I read around that and I’m not really annoyed with it :)
posted over 2 years agoI don’t find it so much annoying as I see it as a warning sign. I’ve noticed that usually when a Chictopian posts nothing but blog links, s/he is less committed to the site, so I shouldn’t expect him or her to reply to my comments or give me feedback on my outfits in exchange. It’s not true for everybody, but in my experience the Chictopians who write out their posts on Chictopia are more active on the site and reciprocal with their Chictopian friends, and they’re who I prefer to follow.
Some Chictopians copy and paste material from their other blog, and that’s fine with me. And some will post a short teaser paragraph and then link “More at the blog,” and that doesn’t bother me either. There’s only so many hours in a day, so I can certainly understand why they don’t want to write two completely different posts. But if you don’t even have the effort to copy and paste? I think it’s safe to assume you’re not really invested here.
posted over 2 years agoI don’t find it annoying at all, because when I’m liking one persons outfits here on chictopia, I usually go on their blog to see more of them :)
posted over 2 years agoYeah I do find it annoying but at the ame time, I understand. blogs are meant to be read by others so it makes sense to advertise it. However, it isn’t alright to keep urging people to go to a blog while providing a post with absolutely no substance. I think its fine if people just post their link to their blog at the end of stuff though (like I am about to do)

posted over 2 years agoI’m with Murasakineko again, it doesn’t “bother” me but the girls feel less real and approachable and more like “models” in photoshoots, hence I’m not really tempted to comment or vote or something. I prefer some realness in my bloggers :) I actually type my post for chictopia and THEN paste it (+ expand it with pics here and there) on my personal blog :) I started with chictopia and then mustered up the courage for my own blog.
posted over 2 years agoI used to link to my blog under my post before Chictopia started doing it automatically and I think that is alright, it just makes it easier for the reader to click through if they wish to. I do write original content for Chictopia on occassion but usually I just copy my outfit description from my blog since that is where I post it first.
I agree though with a lot of you that when the blog is being overtly advertised it is a little bit of a warning sign that the person won’t be that dedicated to reciprocating feedback or time.
posted over 2 years agoI find this fine! I love for people to post their links any and everywhere because I love checking out new blogs and getting a more in depth knowledge of their fashion, style, and interest in other locations besides chictopia! I love it.
posted over 2 years agoIt annoys me too, but if a member can’t be bothered to get involved in the site and give some good content on their blogs, then I simply don’t make the time to follow their page. I would much rather use my time reading the blogs of those that do make an effort to properly participate here and give something interesting to read.
posted over 2 years agoI agree with Annebeth & Angie. I do the same thing most of the time. Chictopia helped me gather up courage to change my personal domain into a fashion blog, so if I mention it once in a while, then it should be ok.
. . . But I do know what you mean, and I know which users are like that. :)
posted over 2 years agoI agree with you, and especially with what murasakineko said.
I like to see real content in people’s blogs when they upload a photo! It’s not like you have to write an essay but even a short paragraph saying.. where you wore the outfit and thanking people for comments or something would be nice.
I am also more likely to follow, friend and leave comments for people who write something other than give their blog link and are more ‘involved’ in the site. If people aren’t putting much effort into the site themselves it seems unlikely that they will reciprocate the effort towards other chictopia users/bloggers.
I do leave a link to my personal blog on my chictopia page but I always try to put up at least 2 or 3 photos and I always write something, even if it’s a bit similar to what’s written on my blog!!
