I use my blog as a means of showing the world how I feel about fashion. To me, blogging is about expressing your self.. I grew up loving fashion, and I grew up watching America’s next top model, wishing I could be a model. Soon after, I found out that I was too short to model, but I attempted to break into the modelling scene anyway and tried out some modelling here and there. Very quickly I realised that Modelling was not for me. I did catwalk modelling and absolutely hated it, I was also involved in some general modelling for magazines but realised I didn’t really like the boxes I had to fit into. As a young girl who was not so tall, slim, and heavily endowed with a big bust, I was not the most desirable candidate for the world of modelling. If anything, I was quite ordinary. As I got older, this started to upset me, because I believed if I wasn’t a model, I wouldn’t be able to express my love for fashion (how young and naive I was sigh). However, as time went by and social networking increased in it’s prominence, I started to upload albums of myself on Facebook and kept the rest stashed away on my computer and laptop.

When I discovered that I could post pictures on blogger I quickly signed myself up. I decided that my blog would represent a group of people who, may not feel like they fit into and tick all the right boxes, just like me. I decided that everyone who visited my blog had to change the way that they viewed themselves and change their perspective on what it means to be fashionable and beautiful. So I created, Extraordinary People. Extraordinary People has been one of my many avenues of helping others to appreciate what they have and how they look in an extraordinary way, even if they feel extra ordinary.

That’s the spirit! The modeling industry is a hell if you really think about it. You NEED to be skinny. You HAVE to look like this and that. Fashion is, actually, your expression about something so I think we don’t have to be a model to express ourselves. I’ve tried modeling too and had the same realization as yours.

I love fashion and dressing up and I did start a blog about it at The Fashionista because I want to express myself and I don’t care about what the “modeling norms” would say. It’s my blog anyway and I’m happy that there are my followers and friends who feel the same way. I also get so inspired reading other fashion and styling blogs. Some actually became influential and brands started to beg them to be their model. See how ironic life is? Haha!

Continue with your passion and you’ll never go wrong :)
