I would love to start posting photos of myself on my Chictopia account, but I live alone, and have no one to take photos of me. I live in a small house, have a back yard where I could possibly do this, but I would hate to feel like the strange neighbor taking photos of herself.

Any suggestions for taking photos without looking like a complete amateur, ie mirror photos?

A lot of my pictures I take by myself. I do it in my backyard and I don’t care if my neighbors think I’m a weirdo. I stand my camera on something whether it’s a table or the window seal and use the timer on the camera.

I too take pictures of myself with the timer. Just find a good place to put the camera and go at it.

i agree with everyone. Set the timer on your camera and that way no one will make you feel uncomfortable. Buy if you’re in a public place, i’ll ask a stranger to take a natural picture of my outfit.

I use the timer, gorilla tripod (about less than twenty bucks from Radio Shack), and a small stool. I try to do my best to not care what others think, but I usually end up in secluded areas in public places anyways.

I agree with what they said above^^^^ Using the timer feature on your camera is great! Most cameras have that

I agree with most of the people from above!
Using a self timer (or even a remote) with your camera and a tripod will create great photos for you!

I do the self-timer thing and you’re welcome to look at my pictures on Amberlee Tea

You can also use instagram or some kind of filter (there are a lot of free ones out there) software to edit your pictures and make even the ones taken by yourself look really nice.

Let your freak flag fly! Don’t care what your neighbours think! Or at least… pretend not to ;)

I run an Etsy shop and I photography my jewellery on a book in the enormous window in my living room with the curtain open, I swear my neighbours think I’m crazy taking endless photos of a book!!
