alternative apparel, short denim shorts with thigh-high black flat boots

would you call that outfit “chic”? no.. right? what would you call it? and what would you call some summer day-time equivalent of that outfit? thank you guys so much. this is my first time asking but i been reading some of the q and a on here and i really like it and i really like the members.

I think the outfit you mentioned is chic! Who can say no to thigh high boots? For daytime I would wear still wear the denim shorts and boots, but maybe with a colorful top.
