I own one pair of heels. Plain black pumps from H&M. But that’s beside the point… I’m just saying I’m not used to wearing heels and I’m skeptical to buy them because I’m not sure if I’ll wear them.

Anyway, there’s a few pairs of shoes I may want from Urban Og and I get my paycheck tomorrow so I may want to purchase a pair or two:

There’s these:
http://www.urbanog.com/images/product/2009/05a/vina4-cml_single.jpg which have a 5" heel with a 1.25" platform, and I only like them in this color.

Then there’s these, which I’ve loved for months since they sold out on Gojane:
http://www.urbanog.com/images/product/2009/04a/astrid05-gray_02.jpg in gray
and http://www.urbanog.com/images/product/2009/04a/astrid05-taupe_02.jpg in taupe, and they have a 5" heel with a 1.75" platform

I hate breaking in shoes, especially heels, though flats can be a pain too, so I’m thinking I could try to wear them with socks like this?:

I don’t know. I’m really indecisive. Any tips, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated :D

Oh, and I meant to ask: how does one wear 5" heels without looking like a hooker?

Well wearing the socks will definetly help with the not looking like a hooker but really that just depends on the style of the shoe, and they’re not hooker style shoes. Not wearing them with a mini skirt and tacky revealing top will really help with the not looking like a hooker thing as well, though I should think most chictopians know that those look bad together no matter what else is worn with them.

I think the second style is a lot nicer than the first though, I think those in the taupe colour look really nice.

I really wouldn’t recommend buying such high heels without trying them on, especially if you’ve never really worn heels before. You might want to try four inch ones before moving into five inch territory. Your foot needs to get used to being arched that high, and sometimes it involves starting a little lower than you’d like (kind of like lifting weights!).

Also, the better quality the shoe, the more comfortable they tend to be – fake leather ones like GoJane sells do not breathe or stretch to conform to the shape of the foot, so they never get “broken in” and stay uncomfortable forever. Nine West, Seychelles, Dolce Vita, and Jeffrey Campbell make some great heels.

Thank you both :)

heatherrr, I really wish I could afford such brands, but I can’t, and I’m vegan so I have personal issues with buying leather. Thanks though.

You really might want to try and get shorter ones before you make the leap to 5" heels. I’ve been wearing heels for years, and I wont even wear them that high. I really like the first pair because of the color though!

I have another pair I’m now debating:

thoughts? From experienced heel-wearers, do they look comfy?

I recommend getting at least a small platform on the bottom because those modcloth ones will kill the ball of your foot. And for getting the other heals it really matters how good you are walking in heels. Oh and looks wise that first pair is adorable, I love the color!

along the lines of what _ashleyamour and splashofcolour said, the HEIGHT of heels doesn’t make you look like a hooker. It’s the STYLE of the heels and what you WEAR them with determines if you look like a hooker. ;)
