When I wear knee high socks I usually tend to wear them with nice boots and have them peek out a bit above the boot. But say I feel like showing more leg and less shoe, what kind of shoe can I wear?
Seems like a lot of girls here wear 5-inch heels (to elongate the leg I imagine) or so with knee high or higher socks, but I’m looking for something a bit more practical.

You can do it with plain flats, too, though it depends on the length of skirt you wear and how you style the outfit. The flatter the shoe, the trickier it is, since knee-high socks cut you off in the middle of the leg and tend to make your legs look shorter.

Today I ended up wearing black tights under grey socks that go just above the knee. They have a nice crochet-like pattern to them. I wore them with a skirt that flares a bit and these black lace-up shoes (not boots) with a 2" heel. I’ve been getting compliments to my surprise :)
