Hi Sarah
If you do a search via stockings you’ll be able to get a full spectrum of options. I’ve pulled a couple out for you specifically regarding black opaque tights.
If you are going to do open toe sandals with opaque tights I would suggest a thicker sandal. Thick straps or a sturdy platform.

And if you are doing close toe, I suggest a pump either in a contrasting color (any) or texture (patent, studded, etc).

Hope that helps!
Depending on the outfit I wear black opaque tights with yellow ballet flats, black mary-jane wedges, and medium-brown or black boots that are mid-calf and higher. I have also worn them with dark green wedge ankle boots. Sometimes if the boot looks funny, you can wear it with a little bit of sock peeking out and it suddenly looks better.
I’m not one of those people who thinks black/brown and black/navy don’t match and I WILL wear those colors together in the same outfit, but I don’t particularly like that combo when it comes to tights and shoes (especially when the shoes are flats- it doesn’t look so bad when they’re boots). That’s why I stick with brightly colored flats. Jewel-tone shoes would probably work too. And of course leopard, if you’re into that. If you want to wear black shoes with your black opaque tights then I would suggest you avoid plain flats because it looks like you’re running around in stocking feet.
I’ve tried to wear black tights with white shoes, and it always looks bad so I don’t even try anymore.
I have a pair of grey oxfords that I used to try and wear with black tights but those never looked right either and I couldn’t figure out why, and then I read somewhere that oxfords should only be worn with sheer tights, and I was like, ohhh yeah!
