Okay, so I’m attending my first and only Prom this Spring. I’m not a traditional prom-dress kinda girl, so I bought a dress from Modcloth.

It fits perfectly, no alterations needed, so now to the next step. What sort of shoes/accessories do you suggest I wear with this? Formal events are sort of out of my comfort zone, so I need some help. Please and thank you :)

Its a very non-prom dress (but still a party dress), so the accessories are going to make or break your look! What “look” are you going for? I could see the dress being worn in a “glam” way with super sparkly accessories…or maybe in a “rocker” way with more edgy accessories. What do YOU want to look like at prom?

Also, are you going with bare legs, or tights?

I’m thinking perhaps more edgy accessories, the only idea I had was maybe some ankle boots with a nice heel… I like the look of the Modstylist wearing it, but I think it may be too warm in May here to wear tights. But if there’s a look with tights that’s absolutely stunning, I’m open to sweating my butt off in the name of fashion.

I think an ankle boot, or an edgy heel, maybe something like this: http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=2249587&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208542&parent_categoryId=208492&sort_field=Relevance&pageSize=200

or this: http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=2249643&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208542&parent_categoryId=208492&sort_field=Relevance&pageSize=200

The dress is pretty busy itself but if you choose black shoes then you could probably go as edgy or as classy as you like.
For accessories maybe some nice earrings, a cuff or some bangles in a dark silver or gun metal colour to go with the hints of silver in the dress.

I think nude heels would look bitchin’. And some chunky bracelets!

Yeap, I am thinking something like opfiend – nude high heels like those here “link it”: http://www.chictopia.com/photo/show/410221-Saturday+chic-bag

And some crazy jewellery too!

One other thing – u better go with bare legs:))

If you end up picking heels, remember to wear them a few times before the prom itself so you break them in :)
I remember going to prom and so many girls ended up wandering around barefoot with their shoes in their hands, which seems like a waste.

Ooh, cute dress! Agreed with opfiend… nude sandals would look great, maybe with some sort of statement necklace.
