saturday wedding bliss   Add as Favorite Photo

My gorgeous friend tied the knot on Saturday in a gorgeous ceremony on the boardwalk/river of the Gold Coast Botanical Gardens. It was too sweet! But Miss Waterworks (aka me) was a no show + I made it through the ceremony without making a blubbering mess of myself! Yay!

I found this vintage dress on eBay, but totally forgot to bid in time, so I emailed the seller and asked her to relist it so I could get my butt into gear. She was also selling my now favourite bag (the tan vintage satchel) which I ended up winning + I let her know once she relisted the other dress that I would pay for them both together to combine the shipping from US to me in Australia. The sweetest lady on eBay then informed me she was giving me the dress for free! Man, people like this just make you feel so much faith in the world, I mean she didn’t know me from a bar of soap! And this dress is ridiculously amazing so I cannot believe it was a freebie! I found these shoes + bag on my Saturday morning op shop spree, yay! Also rocking out some lipstick again, Revlon Red.

Back to the wedding now! The reception was awesome fun + made for a ‘feeling-pretty-sorry-for-myself-Sunday’! The dj busted out Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’ and had me on the floor dancing my heart out before the ‘official’ dancing part of the night was underway. Ahh the perils/awesomeness of strawberry champagne! The lovely bride + groom had their first dance to Adam Sandler’s ‘I Wanna Grow Old With You’ from The Wedding Singer. Aww could you get any cuter!!

Had the best weekend + I hope all you lovelies did too! And big cheers to the happy newlyweds who are now honeymooning in Fiji! (And yes, I am totally jealous!)

Yay, so stoked it’s Friday! It’s been such a busy work week + can’t wait to thoroughly enjoy the weekend! We do a sort of casual Friday deal at work, so I just went for this sweet comfy dress with the usual belt/bag/shoes + added this gorgeous Mimco hair comb for a little something extra. The last time I wore this lovely comb was this Saturday last year, which just happened to be my wedding day! The leap year this year means that our 1st anniversary is on Monday, instead of the weekend, but woohoo at the cuteness of being married for 365 days! (Also love that we celebrate our 1st anniversary a matter of days after my grandparents 50th anniversary, I feel super lucky!)

My lovely girlfriend is actually getting married herself tomorrow, so I hope it is a super sunshiney day + I can’t wait to celebrate with her!! I think I’ve said this numerous times, but September is definitely the month of love!

Tonight I’m catching up with a beautiful friend of mine that I haven’t seen for a month or so, super slackness! We are having a wine + cheese night and I cannot wait! Looking forward to tonight, an op shop spree Saturday morning, wedding Saturday afternoon/night + hopefully a cruisy/beachy Sunday! So clearly – thank god it’s Friday!!

hump day!   Add as Favorite Photo

Sep 24, 2008 16 comments

This is my super simple + comfy outfit that got me through a crazy busy/stressful hump day. (Hump day=Wednesday, the middle of the working week, after which it’s downhill to the weekend!)

This is the dress converted into a top that I scavenged on my road trip a couple of weeks back. I have to admit that my eagle eye for odd looking stains and wear + tear must have been on holidays as I completely missed a significant hole at the bottom of said dress. Hence I didn’t have much of a choice but to turn it into a top! Ahh well, it’s coming in very handy + this it’s first outing not being tucked in at the waist! I like it like this + it was so soft and comfortable for a long work day.

I tried a bit of the Garnier ‘Surf Hair’ spray in my hair, but probably not enough to have significant results or a defining review. I will keep experimenting! I’m always looking for things to make doing my hair quicker + easier, especially now it’s getting warmer + I want to spend more time running about like a maniac in the sunshine, and if I can save a couple of minutes here + there in the getting ready process – there’s more time for frolicking! YAY!

Top, Belt + Jewellery: Vintage (op shops)
Bag + Shoes: Vintage (eBay)
Jeans: Bardot
Sunglasses: Random cheapies are at it again!

How’s these photos for Spring overload?!

I’m making good use of my existing wardrobe at the moment, so these two familiar pieces came out to play! My favourite vintage lace top + my floral 50’s style circle skirt. This skirt is fun to wear + actually really comfortable to sit in all day at work! (Being a graphic designer means I’m on my butt + slave to the computer most of the day!) I really need a petticoat for this skirt though, to make the most of it’s massive-ness.

Was too lazy to wash my hair the night before so I woke up to a ridiculous bad hair day with no option but to pin it all up. It’s definitely getting longer + becoming even more of a mission to keep it all up, I need some more tricks for putting my hair up!

I thought it would be pretty dorky to take the photos in front of these flowers again. It looks so funny, I definitely unleashed my Spring dork here! Man, it’s like looking at one of those Magic Eye things!

Top, Skirt: Vintage (Antique store)
Bag: Vintage (eBay)
Jewellery: Vintage (op shops)
Belt: Ally
Shoes: Pierre Fontaine
Sunglasses: random cheapies represent!

style on a budget = deja vu   Add as Favorite Photo

Sep 23, 2008 23 comments

I hope you lovelies don’t mind me posting deja vu outfits! I guess my style is intricately linked to my budget! I don’t particularly like throwaway fashion/trends so when I’m tossing up about purchasing something (yes, even from an op shop) I like to think about how much wear I’ll get out of it, what it will match with in my wardrobe + whether I’ll still be keen to wear it in a few years. This probably means I’ve got a classic view of fashion, but I think it also relates to trying to be wise with my dollars. Dollars & sense baby!! This often means my clothes wear out before I’m over them, which makes me sad – but it also means I’m thinking through my purchases + not wasting my hard earned cash. Wow this all sounds very sensible, I must be growing up!

It does make me wonder though, whether people that frequent style blogs only want to see only new clothing/purchases/style ideas? Does it bore you to see regular items on rotation? How would this be possible if we look at Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style with his 10 essential items? (And I adore Tim Gunn so I am genuinely curious!) All these questions and more!!

I’ve probably said everything in previous posts about my love for this vintage nightgown: sorbet/pastel colouring, lace detail, simplicity of getting ready in the morning! Ahh I love this little nightie! As per my rambling post – everything in this outfit is vintage + you’ve probably seen it before, possibly even in the same outfit!

PS: I purchased Garnier ‘Surf Hair’ spray yesterday whilst doing my groceries. I’m keen to try it out + see if it is perhaps the holy grail to wavy volumnious beach hair?! I will report back with my review soon!!
