hi lovelies – it’s finally winter here in Oz – although I’ve been feeling the cold for way too long already! I appreciate the winter clothes, the chance to snuggle, the warm chai lattes.. but I really am a summer girl! Ahh well, here’s to cute outfits, fun with layering + powering through the next three months until spring arrives! (Yes, I am jealous of everyone currently in the summer months!)

Anyway, I got a little sick with the flu and this was my outfit for my first venture out into public for 2 weeks. Warm? Check. Snuggly? Check. One of my fave colour combos? Check. Yep, this sort of look has been on rotation for me as soon as the cold hit. Must make sure I make full use of my wintery wardrobe now + not get stuck in a rut!

It’s getting alot cooler now as we’re getting closer to the winter months – which makes it a little trickier when getting ready for a night out. You know you’ll be up + dancing once you’re at your destination (and also that indoors it’s alot warmer), but you also have to be prepared for the outside weather + getting to + from said destination.

A bit more to think about – which I reckon is one of the reasons alot of people tend to hibernate over winter! So.. with this all going through my head while getting ready for my girlfriends birthday bash, I came up with a cute, comfy + warm combo that ended up with a sweet 60s vibe.

I layered two vintage slips (which I hemmed to mini’s): one taupe, one cream; stacked on my usual gold vintage jewellery; wore a cute floral scarf (that is possibly an old shawl/throw or table cloth), my vintage knee high tan leather boots + took my cream vintage lace bolero as a cover up for outside. I was pretty happy with this outfit, had a fun night + was warm when I needed to be – success!

To me there is nothing quite like the 70s – from the hippie vibe, to the LOVE, to the gorgeous fashion, to the caravan camping adventures, to the old school photography.. I am forever inspired by this time period!

It was a sunny day in the midst of our Autumn, so we decided to make the most of it + have a little picnic by the sea. One of my favourite pastimes!

Still catching up on posts here!

One lovely occasion was my 24th birthday! It was a magical day – so many of my beautiful friends came out to celebrate – we went out for pizza, drinks + dancing and had the best time into the wee hours of the morning! One of my girlfriends got some amazing cupcakes specially made for me in colours that reminded her of me: lemon, coral + gold: they were gorgeous + some even had secret fillings! Best cupcakes I’ve ever had!

I think this is going to be one fabulous year ahead of me – so I’m glad I had such a memorable time celebrating!

The dress is a light peach vintage nightie with lace panels, I wore vintage gold glitter heels + all vintage jewellery. The headpiece I made myself. I did my hair up in an attempt at a mini beehive, applied false eyelashes + felt like a princess in full vintage glamour!

One of my gorgeous friends decided to have a ‘mexican fiesta’ themed house party for her birthday + everyone really got into the spirit – tequila, somberos, maracas, moustaches – you name it. FUN times!

I had this vintage mexican embroidered dress already, so the outfit was pretty easy! Everything is vintage – down to the tan platforms from the awesome Nasty Gal Vintage! I made the floral headpiece to go with it :)

I’m not a tequila girl so I made a big vodka slushie to bring with – vodka, peach snaps, lime & cranberry juice + just freeze the bottle up – best drink ever!

Aloha chictopia!

I unintentionally took a little summer hiatus there & before I know it – it’s May, Autumn + almost 4 months away from my last post here – time certainly does fly!

As I (tearfully) wave Summer goodbye here in Australia – I thought my first post back @ Chictopia should be the last Summer festival I went to – Good Vibrations! It was a great day/night spent with awesome mates + music despite two things: 1. terrible weather hit mid afternoon resulting in monsoonal rain & flash flooding (which we powered through to see Fat Boy Slim!) 2. the first festival I’ve been to for years without my better half – who was missed even more due to the rain completely soaking me to the core!

It was definitely an adventure & I’d say the highlight was Q-Tip (from A Tribe Called Quest): amazing performance, I don’t think I stopped dancing the entire set!
