space pants Add as Favorite Photo

Picked up these pants from Need Supply partially because I needed a pair of kinda-casual high-waisted black pants (maybe need is a strong word), but mostly because these guys were named “Space Pants”. I’ve been keeping up with the “sexy astronaut” look since I announced I was back in September, and my newest acquisition pretty much rounds out the deal!
It’s officially one of the hottest summers yet, and I’m trying to force myself to avoid falling into the shorts+tee route for as long as possible. These pants are actually really lightweight and pretty breezy and though I can’t really wear tube tops, this boned wool corset from H&M has enough structure to stay up even without the requisite lady lumpage.
Spending my days playing with the neighborhood kids in the park and drinking lots of iced beverages. Enjoying my last few days in this suburban wasteland before I head off to NY!

Sometimes I worry about how I’m presenting myself online and the disconnect between my online self and my IRL self (I blog about Lanvin when I’m wearing a ripped tee and ratty leggings, you know?). But then sometimes I realize that there are more important things to worry about—like what I’m going to eat for dinner and why my bangs have decided to go helmet-like.
Point is, I’m on this teaching team for one of my classes on online communities and I kind of need your help. Watch this video of me and my friend Katie
and then email me at con.×.wang@gmail.com with your stories of when your online and IRL worlds collide. Anything goes!
Also, this outfit is what I’m usually in when I’m blogging about fashion. And the tornado of stuff behind you is a small corner (the cleanest, actually) of my disaster of a room.

My creativity tank is on empty right now, so thank goodness for my fashion savvy friends who are willing to lend me things and throw things on me and tell me that 1) No Connie, you don’t look completely haggard and 2) Oh god, wear this instead.
So thank you Neneee, Joy O, VPL and Marcus for supplying me with the shirt, the headband/necklace, the tights, and the moral support to carry me through these times of absolute bedraggledness. Bah.
But the shirt is LOVEEEE (thanks Neneee!) I’ve got to find a way to wear this without getting ballyhooed by everyone when I’m walking down the street, but the Alex Wang-ishness of the sheer cutouts makes me so giddy. It’s brilliant :)
And the necklace is fantastic—you kids know that I’m not big on jewelry, but this fool’s gold necklace from Joy O’s studio (down the street from the Chictopia offices!) stole my heart. It didn’t look right sitting on my neck with the asymmetrical neckline of the shirt, so I draped it on my head instead. Easy peasy.

I’ve had this trench coat since Freshman year of high school but deemed it too fuddy-duddy (we use words like that in Minnesota, DEAL) to wear. But years later, it’s looking impossibly chic. Best part? YOU CAN WEAR ANYTHING YOU WANT UNDERNEATH!
But as part of my new years’ style resolution—dress with a purpose!—I’m wearing a silk grecian Clu dress instead of something sweatshirty and fuggo underneath.
culottes or cu-nots? Add as Favorite Photo

It’s dumb to debate that culottes are anything but amazing.
1) You can sit Indian style without fear of flashing your present company.
2) You have the benefit of wearing shorts when it looks like you’re wearing a skirt.
3) Stephanie Tanner wore ’em.
4) So did American Girl doll Molly.
I picked them up from Lula’s in Minnesota with Lindsay Sue on an epic city-wide comb for thrifting deals. We left behind the pair of high-cut lace underwear attached to a long-sleeved nylon blouse, and the knock-off abercrombies, but I left with an impressive haul that included these babies here.
Edit: you can totally see my tweetie bird bandaid in the last picture on my arm (hep shot, boo).

So when I was digging through my old closet at my parent’s house looking for outfits to put together for the newest Everybody is Ugly video (watch here!), I came across this crepe silk sunflower dress that used to be my Mommy Wang’’s (Ai-yah, SO FASHION). Oh man, I loved this dress so much in all its Stephanie Tanner glory.
But the length? The inch-above-ankle length that you see on the Dugger girls. So I pinned up the front and voila! Fug no mo’.
