About My Style

I love unique vintage pieces, skinny jeans, and ankle boots. I love classic pieces that I know I can wear forever. Floral dresses, denim and leather jackets, and Converse sneakers is what I feel most comfortable in. I am always on the search for the perfect blazer. I love to mix bargain designer pieces that I randomly find with versatile high street finds. I cannot live without my Chanel purse.

Like every spring season, tribal prints seem to always make their way back onto the trend board alongside flamboyant florals (Dolce & Gabbana) and digital graphics (Givenchy). This leopard print dress has been in my closet forever, but I cannot seem to let it go. It made the perfect cover up for my vacation in Hawaii last summer, but when paired with a sleek belt and some cool wedges, it is definitely more tribal city girl. I am usually too scared to accessorize too much with this dress because it is black and maroon rather than the normal brown and beige colors. But I found that pairing brown and black accessories with the dress really worked. I decided to wear my little structured purse because it matched my shoes. It is a timeless, classic piece that knows no limits of usage. I can wear it with any outfit, and it does a fabulous job of urbanizing the wild print of my dress! Anyone ready for a safari?

The weather has been absolutely beautiful these past few days. All I want to do is be outside! This warmth sure makes it easier to be healthier. Now that I don’t have to be cooped up inside all day, I am using my free time to jump rope outside as the sun sets. I’m no athlete, but I am a huge fan of staying active. Good thing, too, since I see a lot of short hemlines in store for us this spring.

Have a happy Friday everyone! I am looking forward to hopefully seeing The Runaways this weekend. Anything rock and roll is an A+ in my book.

A Feminine Slouch   Add as Favorite Photo

I would like to thank Sara and the team over at Akira for sending me over this wonderfully versatile body-conscious dress. I finally got the chance to wear it out a couple of days ago. Akira is a Chicago-based online shop that carries everything from Free People to Anna Sui. Right now their website is under construction, but you can still visit them here to see what they are all about! I wanted a reason to wear my slouchy waffle sweater because the day was kind of chilly, and this dress made for the perfect backdrop to build a look upon. These past few days, I have been very keen on my mother’s collection of vintage belts that I am always secretly digging into. Belts are the easiest accessory to incorporate into an outfit because they create shape when otherwise there would be none. I like how the belt allows my sweater to drape in a romantic fashion in all the right places. I was feeling a tad playful, so I threw on my pair of dotted tights. In the end, this turned out to be the feminine look that I was aiming for. Oh, it’s nice to be a girl.

I hope all of you enjoy your weekend. I will be visiting my university friends at UCLA this afternoon and I am so excited to see them because it feels like forever since the last time I have!

xoxo

Maritime Mood   Add as Favorite Photo

I am so in the mood for spring right now! The sun is out full force during the day, and I can already feel my spirits lifting. I feel like stripes is the perfect print to complement my mood because they remind me of sunshine and a sea breeze. I was inspired by old photos of Coco Chanel in her simple striped boat top with boyish trousers. Sailor stripes and orangey-red lips = 100% Americana with a vintage vibe. It’s such an easy look, but you can wear it anywhere. I will definitely be sporting variations of this outfit all throughout the new season. I am trying to build my trouser collection because silky soft pants are such a versatile piece that take you from the work bench to lunch break with the girls with a snap of the fingers. I see myself
frolicking in them all summer long in a pair of strappy gladiators. I want them in every color!

Enjoy your countdown to spring everyone!

I wanted to do something different with my everyday shorts, top, tights, and blazer look. This little leopard print sweater helps add a little fun and is an extra layer against the cold. It’s been quite chilly these past few days and it’s raining as I write this. I need all the warmth I can get! Today is a perfect day to sit back, watch some television and then curl up with a good book. I just finished up Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult. I highly recommend them because one will make you hungry for travel and cultural rejuvenation, while the other one will make you cry.

Into the Fog   Add as Favorite Photo

I found these snapshots as I was transferring pictures to my new laptop a few days ago. Just an easy going outfit worn on a eery foggy day in January on the Westside. The thick marine layer made me feel like I was stuck in a foamy bubble or swimming in a cloud. Pretty cool stuff.

I am a dire need to inject some spring fashion influence into my wardrobe. When I look in my closet I see lots of muted tones and nothing very bright. With a brand new month here, I hear a shopping trip calling my name. I am tired of winter and want the birds to come out and sing. Who is with me?

I'm Back!   Add as Favorite Photo

I arrived back home here in California on Wednesday and I am feeling a bit jet-lagged. When I woke up from my nap yesterday, I still thought I was in Malaysia. It may take a while for me to adapt to the time change. Despite my current state of sleepiness, I had so much fun in Malaysia, Thailand, and Bali! I miss being in Asia, but it is nice to be back home again. Traveling can be exhausting, but it is so worth it. All I can say now is that I am addicted to traveling and am already dreaming up my next vacation!

I decided to get a little dressed up today to make up for my lack of dressing up for the past 5 weeks. I usually don’t drift outside of my comfort zone of dark black tights, but this deep maroon pair from We Love Colors does a great job of keeping me grounded while still allowing me step outside the box. I dressed up my floral dress even more with a dash of exotic leopard print. The bracelet is from a little store in Malaysia and was such a bargain for only a few bucks. It really does the trick of toughening up the femininity of this dress and keeps things from getting too boring.
