About My Style

I strongly believe that it is possible to be fashionable on a very minimal budget. I have never bought anything for full price! I buy second hand/op shop/thrifted/vintage clothes as much as possible. I believe you don’t have to pay hundreds of dollars to look good. I don’t stick to one style of clothing, it’s fun to be flexible! I like interesting and unique clothes, it’s all about being creative with how you dress :D

Hello everyone!! Hope all is going well :)
I’ve been rather neglectful of many things recently, including chictopia, my friends, home stuff, uni, etc :( Hopefully I can get organised and get everything done that needs to be done.

Uni is going ok. Tomorrow will be the start of my 3rd week. I haven’t done all the required readings :( But I know when everything is due so hopefully I can try to be up to date.

This cardigan was a recent purchase of mine. I actually already had one in exactly the same style, but in a cream colour and 2 sizes too big for me. I got that one because it was $12 as it had some loose threads :P But anyway I couldn’t resist buying this one. I’m really obsessed with purple clothing at the moment!!
I really need some more cream or beige coloured high waisted shorts :P These shorts are lovely, but they are a bit tight on me :(
White stockings rock!!

Anyway, thanks so much to everyone who has commented on, and voted for my pics. I really appreciate it!!!
Check out my BLOG POST if you would like to see more photos, and if you want to read the most recent book review I did!!

Hey hey :)
This is a really quick photo upload!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything interesting? i didn’t really :( oh well…

Ack. I just can’t work my brother’s DSLR at all. He doesn’t even use it, what was the point in buying it? Anyway… I’m still learning how to use the settings. But I can’t take photos of myself using it, because everytime I try to the focus is all wrong and blurry! and my sister (who does take the photos for me) doesn’t know how to use it. :( Today I got her to take photos of another outfit… on the camera screen the photos looked fine, perfect lighting and everything. But when I uploaded them to my computer they were REALLY dark and a bit blurry! :( I don’t understand it. I guess I’ll just have to make sure that when I take photos, they look really light on the camera screen so they are ok when they go onto the computer. ARgh!

I got this tshirt for 50cents at an op shop :) and the jacket was $3!! The tights i’ve had since I was a kid :D and I made the bows in my hair myself.

Anyway… please check out my BLOG (I will put more photos of this outfit there tomorrow.)
Also, just to let you know I’d like to do a little giveaway on my blog when I get to 50 followers, and if you’re a follower of my blog then you get extra entries! So the sooner I get 50 followers the sooner I can do the giveaway :P hehe.

well have a lovely Monday! <3

Hey hey!
As always, thanks sososo much for all the comments! I really appreciate it and will try to get back to everyone soon :)

Also, congratulations to Mitzicocoa for becoming a style icon! She really deserves it, she has such a unique style and she’s so friendly too!

So I wore this on Sunday for the Sydney Rd festival. It’s once a year and they close off part of Syd Rd. I love going to it, though I thought that this year it wasn’t as good. But I still had fun looking at all the stalls and entertainment that was on!

Just a casual outfit for the day. I’ve been using this bag way too often. I got it from a flea market in Krakow, Poland at the start of the year while I was in Europe! It was fun trying to buy stuff when we didn’t know any Polish and the sellers didn’t know any English :P
Dan reluctantly took some quick photos of me so I don’t have many to choose from. Ha!

Please check out my BLOG POST if you would like to see more photos of this outfit and see photos I took at the festival!!
Hope you’re having a wonderful week!!

ps- check out the two girls behind me in the second photo. tiara + ginormous bow + floral skirts.. super cute, right? :)

vindaloo against violence   Add as Favorite Photo

Mar 01, 2010 24 comments

hello all :)
thanks so much for all the comments as usual, big hugs to everyone :)

This is what I wore last Wednesday for Vindaloo against Violence. It was an event based in Melbourne where I live, where you and your friends/family ate at your local Indian restaurant to show solidarity and your support for the community in the face of some of the racially motivated attacks that have been occurring in Melbourne / Australia in the past several months, especially towards Indian students. :(

I thought it was a great idea, and I love Indian food! I went with my bf and two other friends I hadn’t seen since last year.
Over 17,000 people attended the event nationally and even internationally, which is great. The fact that these attacks are even occurring in the first place is really horrible. :( But anything we can do to show support is great, I think.

My whole outfit (minus the bow) was thrifted and second hand! Amazing huh? I love bargain hunting. It’s exciting to see what you can find for cheap!
However my resolution to try and buy mostly second hand stuff isn’t going so well this year.. I have been to too many sales! More outfits to come soon, lovely people. :)

If you’d like to hear more about the event and see more pics of this outfit, please check out my blog post!

Much love!
Ps. Today was the first day of Autumn. Summer is over. Sigh!
Pps. I’m thinking of maybe selling some of the clothes I have, as I have too many that don’t fit me or that i’ve never worn. Would anybody be interested at all? <3

Hello again :)
Thanks for all the comments and votes!
My internet is fast again! So hopefully I shall be able to get round to replying to everyone :)

Holidays are almost over for me. Next week I start my final year of my Bachelor’s Degree. Eeep. I feel like I have wasted the holidays ever since I came back from overseas! :( Still don’t have a job yet either.

Anyway I had a pretty good weekend. Dressed up as a pirate (sort of) for theatre company’s party on Saturday night, but I didn’t get any pics.
Had dinner with my famly and boyf and bf’s parents on Sunday night. First time our two families have done something together, even though i’ve been with bf for over two years. It wasn’t too awkward though, it was pretty good :)

Hope these pics are ok. Does anyone have any tips for photographing outfits in direct sunlight? I did these ones outside but under cover, because whenever I try taking them outside in the strong Summer sunlight we have in Aus at the moment, they are simply too bright! And taking them in shade makes them too dark :S So any tips would be appreciated.

If you want to know, the title is referring to the book by Ben Elton. I’ve decided that i’m going to read at least one new book a week. This is the first book I read since I decided that, and I wrote a short review on it.
If you want to read it, or check out some more + detailed photos of this outfit, please visit my BLOG!

Happy Chinese New Year!   Add as Favorite Photo

Feb 16, 2010 36 comments

Hey hey!
This is what I wore on Sunday for Chinese New Year. Dan and I went into the city to take part in the celebrations and look at the stalls and going-ons. We didn’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day because Dan detests it, although i’m planning a nice picnic for us in the next couple of weeks :D

It was a pretty good day. Really sunny and hot, the stockings and bolero were a bit of a bad choice- I had to take them off after awhile :P
I finally have an exposed zipper dress- and it’s light denim and floral as well!! :D It was $20 which is a bit of a splurge for me at the moment- haha!!

My last pic got deleted from the style gallery again, poo!
I had lots of trouble taking photos of this outfit. I took about 80 shots in several different locations and they weren’t very good. They all turned out really dark when I put them on the computer, even when they looked perfect on the camera screen. :( And I tried using different manual settings too. :(
This is the best I can do for now! I really liked this outfit and I tried to get the best photo I could, so dear editors, please don’t remove this photo! I will swap to a different photo if that’s what it takes!

Please check out my blog post for more photos of the outfit, a description of what I did on Sunday and also some photos from my family dinner on Saturday for CN Year’s eve!

love you all :)
