Week 1 in San Francisco! Add as Favorite Photo

It’s official! I’m now a California girl living in San Francisco. Can you believe it? I can’t. City number five, here we are.
The change has been emotionally crazy and really stressful – I’ve moved three other times away from home and it doesn’t get any easier no matter how many times I do it.
But I’m surprised at how much I already love the city. It’s just the right amount of busy, sunny, cool and convenient. After living in Chicago and New York, and feeling either under or overwhelmed, I’m happy to have found a city with nice balance.
I live in Downtown, three blocks from Union Square and tons of shopping. Macy’s, Neiman’s and Saks are all down the street which is either great or dangerous. Either way, I really love the neighborhood. It’s close to everything, including work and there is Thai Tea EVERYWHERE!!!
TGIF!
Going to spend the entire weekend discovering the city!

Oh, I’ve been gone for awhile, no?
Well, a few things.
In the past year, I’ve lived in four cities and I’m just now beginning to slow down. I’m floating, really. Sometimes, I’m sad but sometimes, I’m thankful.
I just got back from Fashion Week and covered several shows for EverybodyIsUgly. It was so exhausting.
I miss writing, but I haven’t had much to say lately. I haven’t written personally in so long and this jumbled mess of words is perhaps a testament to how foreign writing is right now.
A few people have asked what happened to the twelfth and the short explanation is that I deleted it. I hate deleting old writings but I hate that people googled me even more. I think some people are flattered (?) when people google them, but I don’t know, I’ll never get used to it. So now I’m writing here, where googlers can’t find me!
I’ve also started an etsy, finally after several people telling me I should. So we’ll see how this goes!
That’s the update on my life.

Last batch of photos from my three month stint in New York. I’m in the process of trying to convince my sister to move back with me in August. Haha.
Chicago is wonderful though. I went to the thrift store today and found the greatest items. They’ve just been washed and hopefully will be dry by tomorrow so I can wear them. I’ve missed good thrifting! NYC was definitely way too picked through/overpriced to find really great things for 90 cents. Today definitely paid off for the past few months of that.
My mom today told me that I need to wear more color. I’m trying! Summer is really tricky. It’s too hot to wear anything in Florida. Everyone’s all “omg, all white outfits” for summer which sort of makes me not want to wear that. All this “wear this, buy this” rhetoric is never fun.
Speaking of fashion and getting inspired, send me your’s or your favorites. I was getting rather bored today and feeling the need for inspiration. I found one of my aunt’s old books on old palaces (it might actually be called Old Palaces?) and I can’t wait to get home and scan a few pages. Really into castles right now.
Back on the town tomorrow. Sunny & 70s =) Hopefully more great finds are in store!

A little bit blurry & not my favorite outfit, but I’m trying not to neglect my personal blog now that I’m at EIU.
I ran into my former internship boss in Soho. I miss her & everyone in the office so much! I’m done with my second internship as well & will be off to Chicago after the weekend. So excited to rest & really enjoy a city. I’m really excited for time with my family & best friends from home as well.
I miss having my loved ones around. I didn’t realize how much I need them around me until they’re gone. It was different when I was away at college because even then, there were choices & people I truly care about. Love really does sustain you & I’ve learned to make conscious efforts to surround myself with it & nothing else.
I can’t wait to finally have a place that feels like home. I’ve been thinking about that lately – about how I’d decorate my own apartment, how peaceful I would feel in it. It’s exciting to think I’ll have that soon. The past few years I’ve just been transient, moving from city to city & never really feeling settled. Hopefully my next move will feel more like home.

Kristine

One of my favorite dresses in a really long time. I wore it two days in a row… Ha! I sort of wish it went all the way to my ankles, then it would be absolute perfection. It’s second hand, without a tag. Only cost $13!
I’ve been pretty tired lately and I think you can tell when you look at these photos. Just a week and a half left before Chicago and a break over the summer (we’ll see how long that lasts…) My last day at my brand management internship is tomorrow =‘( I really don’t want it to end. Sigh.
In other news…
I guess I should be, y’know, rooting for the Magic or something, having grown up in Orlando and all. But… I’ve always been a Bulls fan thanks to growing up with a family from Chicago so… I don’t really care. Haha.
Oh, look, I’m wearing Bulls colors. How bout that.
