these trousers photographed so poorly. i really hope they don’t look too ill-fitting here, because i didn’t think to smooth them out before shooting. oops.
shiny fabric is sometimes not a good thing, but the pics here don’t do them justice; i love the pockets and pleats on these, and cuffing the bottoms to show off some simple booties.

got this cool little bucket bag at forever 21 to hold me over while i try and find a way to fix my beloved and beat-up zara bag. the zipper is broken and the missing stud count is at three and counting =(

FINALLY found this pretty H&M top that i’ve wanted for a while.

i’d probably kill over and die if i could go to NYFW and the Chictopia10 summit. not only have i never been to NYC, but because i live in indiana, a state where fashion is low on the list of priorities, i’ve never been to any fashion-related event. what an experience this would be!

after i realized my interest in fashion was more than a fling, and i had spent some time developing and defining my style, chictopia was the first place i went to when i wanted to start uploading outfit photos, and it was only the incredible response from my friends and fans on here that allowed me to be confident enough to start my blog. i do not personally know anyone who has an interest in fashion like me, and i’m normally a pretty shy and quiet girl, but when i’m on chictopia, i come out of my shell and could talk to you guys all day. it’s so amazing to know that you have an automatic, built-in set of friends the second you join the site! and the inspiration gained from this site is endless – my style has evolved to become what it is thanks to users who share a similar aesthetic, and on the opposite end, many have inspired me to step out of my own box and try something new.

also, i can’t think of another site that has better contests than chictopia. with cool sponsors like forever 21 and karmaloop, what’s not to love?

i just love the entire concept behind this site. chictopia is truly a COMMUNITY of stylish individuals who come together to share the same passion.

this is me, trying and failing to be a badass. lolz, just kidding. i went out on saturday night and was feeling slightly tomboy-ish, so i threw this ensemble together.

the soft knitted beanie is one of the things that arnette from brixton sent to me in her little care package (the tee i wore on NYE was another). i really needed a black beanie in my life, so i couldn’t be happier.
the f21 thermal top is my current go-to; it reminds me of alexander wang’s oh-so-covetable thermals. i’ve also worn it recently under this faux fur vest.

my sincere apologizes again for the boring concrete/white wall background.
if only it weren’t 10 degrees outside….

after looking at my outfit, i feel as though it was inspired by someone who’s numero uno in my book: kate lanphear.
on a side note, the night before this, i wore a skirt (so unlike me!) and heels. my style is consistent, but it can go from on side of the spectrum to the other.
mixing tough with feminine is my favorite =)

last week i found out that i came in second in the karmaloop x chictopia street style contest , and won a $150 karmaloop.com gift card! so awesome – i’d like to say THANK YOU again to karmaloop and chictopia for choosing me. i heart chictopia!!

with the money burning a whole in my pocket, i went to their cool website that’s chock full of edgy streetwear and immediately browsed the shoe section. nothing caught my eye, so i went on to the jewelry, which is where i saw this CHRISHABANA triple spike necklace . i’d seen it and other jewelry from the brand on another style blog and knew that it was just what i was looking for. next, i went through jackets, blazers, and sweaters (i usually refrain from buying pants online because i’m picky about the fit), didn’t find anything, and then hit the jackpot when i browsed through shirts and saw this sheer, white, basically perfect free people oversized shirt . i have been looking for a white shirt just like this for who knows how long, and now i finally have one. i couldn’t be happier with my choices.

just got this really great fitting pair of jeans from forever 21 for only $12 (SCORE), and the awesome boyfriend watch is f21 too. the marc by marc jacobs stud bracelet is a new acquisition as well, via eBay. i love stacking my wrist with baubles, although i only go overboard on my days off since work is very hands-on and lots of jewelry can get annoying.

hiiiiiii chictopia! long time no see!
here is an outfit that i tweeted about a couple of days ago.
i was feeling slightly masculine and paired my new blazer with my new striped shirt – turns out i like them together alot alot alot. you don’t see much of these boots here on the blog, but their comfort and versatility make them an often permanent fixture on my feetsies.
