bright florals are gorgeous and i love them on other people, but usually they just aren’t for me. moody florals are another story, and i flipped when i saw this scarf. it’s a great way to add a little something to my outfits.

see, i do like color…as long as it’s muted shades of blue.
you’ve probably all seen H&M’s huge denim/blue campaign by now, and we are encouraged to wear those to work in support of it. i was stoked to play with all of the denim already in my closet and as a result put together this look – my version of the texas tuxedo, haha. i already love it. picture me with my frye 8R harness boots too.

inspired by helmut lang a/w 2010, i decided to belt my fur vest. i was trying to find a way to make it differ slightly from the exact look when i remembered this belt i recently found while cleaning out my closet. the belt is like 10 years old or something crazy. i ended up loving how it looked; this cognac brown goes so well with black and since the belt is made for your hips, it was a little big and therefore sat perfectly disheveled and crooked on my waist.

i’ve been wearing this vest like crazy before it becomes spring and i no longer can throw it over everything.although, with over a foot of snow on the ground outside, it doesn’t seem like warm weather will be here anytime soon.

three days to go until this contest ends! ahhh, oh well, better late than never =)
this is definitely a valentine’s day inspired outfit; the lace and soft pink cardigan are quite romantic but of course i had to make the look more edgy and add the suede shorts and booties.

my boyfriend and i are high school sweethearts; together since i was 15 and he was 16. we just celebrated our 8th valentine’s day together!
he is my better half and i would not be the person i am today without him. the best thing about him? his sense of humor of course. i cannot resist a guy who can always make me laugh.

our rare situation makes me realize how lucky we are to have survived all this time. it’s been the most incredible 8.5 years together and i cannot wait to see what the future holds for us.

these trousers photographed so poorly. i really hope they don’t look too ill-fitting here, because i didn’t think to smooth them out before shooting. oops.
shiny fabric is sometimes not a good thing, but the pics here don’t do them justice; i love the pockets and pleats on these, and cuffing the bottoms to show off some simple booties.

got this cool little bucket bag at forever 21 to hold me over while i try and find a way to fix my beloved and beat-up zara bag. the zipper is broken and the missing stud count is at three and counting =(

FINALLY found this pretty H&M top that i’ve wanted for a while.

i’d probably kill over and die if i could go to NYFW and the Chictopia10 summit. not only have i never been to NYC, but because i live in indiana, a state where fashion is low on the list of priorities, i’ve never been to any fashion-related event. what an experience this would be!

after i realized my interest in fashion was more than a fling, and i had spent some time developing and defining my style, chictopia was the first place i went to when i wanted to start uploading outfit photos, and it was only the incredible response from my friends and fans on here that allowed me to be confident enough to start my blog. i do not personally know anyone who has an interest in fashion like me, and i’m normally a pretty shy and quiet girl, but when i’m on chictopia, i come out of my shell and could talk to you guys all day. it’s so amazing to know that you have an automatic, built-in set of friends the second you join the site! and the inspiration gained from this site is endless – my style has evolved to become what it is thanks to users who share a similar aesthetic, and on the opposite end, many have inspired me to step out of my own box and try something new.

also, i can’t think of another site that has better contests than chictopia. with cool sponsors like forever 21 and karmaloop, what’s not to love?

i just love the entire concept behind this site. chictopia is truly a COMMUNITY of stylish individuals who come together to share the same passion.
