W-o-w. I am speechless. Chictopia hosting its own fashion week event in New York? Can you believe it? The two things that flashed into my mind were all the New York streetstyle photos that I’ve seen online and Empire State of Mind by Jay Z and Alicia Keys (my favorite song by the way!). I cannot deny that I don’t want to attend. In fact, I WANT TO GO SO BADLY. Chictopia? New York Fashion Week? Two of my favorite fashion sources packaged into one! Chictopia has really been on top of its game and I am very happy for the Chictopia team who has made it come this far. (:

When I first signed up for a Chictopia account, I was a little skeptical about Chictopia’s ability to portray itself as an established fashion community. And damn I was wrong. I got hooked onto Chictopia and has been an active member of this fashion community ever since. Whenever I needed inspirations, Chictopia was one of my priority sources to go to. I absolutely hate it when certain websites only portray a certain kind of fashion, such as streetstyle with a lot of black, leather, lace and studs, over-sized shirts… (a.k.a. party girls). But Chictopia… it embodies a wide variety of style without any restrictions. Need some Girls Night Out outfit inspirations? You got it. Or some Picnic/Park Outing outfit inspirations? You got it. I love that Chictopians are allowed to express their styles in any way they like it. I also love that me being an Asian in this community is NEVER an issue. Nobody cares about where you come from, as far as anyone is concerned, everyone is equal and fashion is universal. I especially love the comment box where Chictopians are able to voice out their opinion on other Chictopian’s outfits and give constructive feedback and even encouragements and assurances. That said, I am genuinely encouraged and spurred on to continue doing what I want to do (fashion-wise) because of every single comment that I’ve received.

I couldn’t agree more when I saw the title of this article written by Sarah Mower on the fashion section of Telegraph. I’ve been so compelled to comfy and practical outfits these days, shying away from outfits that need “adjusting” and “watching out for any fashion mishaps” all too often. Check out the article here
