Being that ACNE is based in Stockholm, there is a sense of minimalism in all their products, but their items are far from stark. They've been a brand that have been able to push minimalism in a playful direction, that's slightly trendy, but not overly so. This dress is indeed a pinafore with elastic straps, so I wouldn't go as far to call it a "classic" piece, but the a-line silhouette and the subtle stitching do help with keeping it more timeless. The whimsical pinching and asymmetry on both the front and back of the dress, create a bit of an optical illusion, and give it a little urban edge.
Because it's made of raw denim (the thick, real deal sort of denim), it is a bit stiff. The dress looks great, if you're standing or walking, but the upper half poofs out a bit awkwardly when you sit. Hey, nobody's perfect.
All in all, the craftsmanship is pretty spectacular, as is its versatility (something that Acne always seems to ace), so if you've ever been tempted to get a denim dress, pinafore or not, I'd recommend this one.
My first ever piece bought from acne which is a dress arrived today. I am so excited because it is even more gorgeous in real life. A bit expensive but it so worse it
