I received American Apparel Nail Polish the other day and decided to be über productive this evening and post something for this little blog/column on chictopia.com in the form of another video.

Tiny written review:
I love american apparel so much. Seriously. So when they created nail polish I couldnt have been happier. Their nail product does not disappoint. Just like most all of their clothes, the nail polish is perfect in every way. I totally want colors in Rosebowl and Pinto now.

Soooooo guess what TeenUglies?

I have been terrible at posting! But thankfully school is over for Christmas break and Ive finally gotten to write something here.
Heres a little runway review for ya’ll.

I did a little question and answer with myself.

Im crazy sometimes.

Can you state the obvious? I went to New York Fashion week this past September
Whatd you do there? GO TO RUNWAY SHOWS OF COURSE!
Which ones? Well I went to a few but one of them was Max Azria!
With Who? I watched it with my buddy Camiller
Why? Oh my god. Just guess, mkay? Enough with your silly questions already!
Awwwwww. One more? Okay. Fine.
Howd you like it? On the whole I think it was pretty good. collection. It isnt exactly my style. There were some beautiful pieces though, and it was very modern and simple. Black and whites and nude tones and stuff. I think it would be perfect for a girl about town in her 20s. There were some slits/slashes/cuts in the dresses that I thought were played up a little too much (Cause I feel like everyone on the blogosphere has slashed and cut already). It was really beautiful despite that because there were some incredible sparkly beading and crystals included on the sides and backs of the garments.
Can you sum that up into one sentence? I thought you said you only had one question left.
I lied.. No comment.
Please? The simple chic collection was beautifully executed with pretty details but seems to be only for the 21+ crowd.

Oh and guess what else?! Ive got a video to top that whole review off! (I apologize for how short it is. I dont know why I didnt keep it going longer)

P.s. Song in video is by The xx, my favorite band right now. The song is bomb. And thanks to the people at Max Azria for the tickets! Oh and the third dress I posted here is my favorite from the collection.

Hey TeenUglies,

Long time no see?! Sorry! Its been a bit hectic with getting used to High school (!) and making new friends and New York (Ive got at least one more review for you guys, with my own pics, btw) and coming back to school and making up the work I missed etc. etc. You all probably understand. I mean my gosh. HIGH SCHOOL!??! I never thought Id see the day. Haha, anyways, I wanted to talk a little about school clothes. Enjoy!

Thoughts
So, Ive gotten a few emails/questions about what to wear to school/first day etc.

I want to say, first of all, high school is hard enough without adding “be stylish” to the list of to-dos, so I wanted to clear up any thoughts that you have to look like you just stepped out of TeenVogue’s pages when walking down the hallway. Ladies, I am a firm believer in this: Grades come first, Clothes come second.

Easy, Peasy, Pumpkin Pie
Guess what? Chic means a pair of jeans and an awesome vintage jacket. Simple as that. You dont need to break out your newest wedges, or sparkly high waisted skirt. There are a LOT of stairs at my school, and I want to be able to navigate them easily throughout the day. Jeans are the best option. Especially since Im always afraid of a Marilyn Monroe moment (you know, with wind and a skirt and what not).

Okay
I understand, though, that you might get sick of jeans one day (I went through a period of that for about a month last year) So if you want to wear your skirt make sure to wear bike shorts under them! Or some tights. Often, I wear both!

Taste Please
There is nothing classy or feminine about short shorts or short skirts. Its trashy. Youd attract the wrong attention. End of story. I dont wanna see a TeenUgly in skin tight short shorts EVER, (unless worn under or over something).

What I basically want to tell you to survive HS wardrobe mishaps/situations is this:
1. Dont stress about your outfit! Its just one day.
2. Get sleep! Best thing for you. No dark circles!
3. Wear what you feel good in. What makes you feel empowered, what makes you feel awesome. Me? The outfit, Im wearing in the photo, I wore recently and I felt freaking AWESOME the entire day. I cant explain why, but the combo of the boots and jacket just made me feel golden.

Towards the end of New York Fashion Week, Chictopia held a party at the Broadway East hosted by Forever 21. And while the event was 21+, as editors for Chictopia, TeenUgly was lucky enough to be able to attend. Don’t worry, we only sipped on soda and cranberry juice that night. Scouts honor.
