J Crew Style   Add as Favorite Photo

Mar 10, 2010 23 comments

One of my favorite things to do is sit down with a cup of coffee and look through catalogs. One of my favorites is always J. Crew. The styling is always superb and they make the clothes so desirable, much more so then when I see them hanging on the rack in the store. I have this skirt that has been haunting me from their store for months. It is rather large and unflattering on me. Plus, it gets wrinkled within two minutes of wearing it (and I don’t own an iron)! So, this was my one attempt to wear it and you probably will never see it again. I thought I would go for a very J Crew inspired look with this outfit. So, I did stripes, layers, oversized necklace (so Wilma Flintstone) and socks! I have to say it was kind of fun to try, but I m not sure I will do this look again and the skirt may have to go bye bye!
Do you have items that you try to wear over and over and just look like crap?

Magical Little Sunday   Add as Favorite Photo

Mar 08, 2010 35 comments

Sundays are both my least favorite and favorite day of the week. I hate that it is the last day before you are back to work or back to school. You get that anxious feeling like you have only a little time left to have fun! However, I love a relaxed Sunday when the sun is shining and you walk around town exploring and enjoying great food and people watching! That is exactly what we did this Sunday and it was magical. It was beautiful out and we took an extra long walk to farmer’s market so that we could pass by this fun bridge. I love fresh flowers from farmer’s and grabbing juicy pears and if we feel naughty a mouth watering crepe. Some of our favorite stops by our place are Icing on a Cake for the must yummy deserts you can find and Purple Onion for a fresh salad and big cup of cappuccino. I wore a simple and comfortable outfit that actually got too hot with all the walking we did. I had some really good luck at Urban Outfitters this last week. This floral tank is one of my favorites. Perfect for a “summer” like afternoon!

I’m back baby!! I got my new camera and I still have so much to learn. So my bf and I took these to try some shots in our cottage! I got the Nikon D60 and a 50 mm f/ 1.4 lens. I got to throw on some new spring items I have been loving and I finally decided I was going to keep my Zoe boots by Sam Endelman
It took me some time to adjust to my feet looking so big, but now I love them. I also got these darling tights with small pink hearts from American Apparel. Well, off and out to eat burgers and sweet potato fries at The Counter. Yum!!

Hello girls!

Today is the Chictopia 10 conference in NYC and I wish I was there not only to hear the great speakers, but to meet all you amazing girls! I get so much inspiration from all of you and I wanted to thank you for all the support. I could not get there b/c we are moving and with VDAY and my BDAY we are so busy and so I plan to be there in September!

Sorry that I am a little behind on here. Once we are moved and settled I should be back to normal!

I love this vintage Moschino shirt, but with the move I am selling my closet. If your are interested check it out HERE

Buy Definition “It Girl” Contest

I am not the kind of girl who likes to think of herself as an “It Girl”. To me that is a label that other’s give to you. I like to think of myself as a “Real Girl” who works full time, works out, has bills, and is in love with fashion. I try not to be anything that I’m not. Sure, I play with my style and like to take risks, but I am not fooling myself into thinking I am the next Erin Wasson or Alexa Chung. My style is more relaxed and simple. I once described my style as eclectic with a strong bias towards girlie bohemian glamour. I love to wear clothes that are fun and have whimsy, but can still be worn to grab coffee and run to the store. I want to be functional, but stylish. I think this is why women admire my style. I am not a fashionista, a stylist, or a fashion editor-I am ME and I am comfortable in my own skin. My hope is that translates to women and that they feel like they can try new things and play with their own personal style. If that is what can be considered an “It Girl” then count me in!

California Girl   Add as Favorite Photo

This is from the blog…not all links will work. head to blog for more.

I love experimenting with fashion and stepping out of the box, but when it comes down to it I am a true casual and relaxed California girl (example here). I tend to gravitate towards clothes that are functional and can be worn to all types of occasions. So, even though I may dress for fun like in my last post. Most of the time you will see my dressed like above. Naturally, I was drawn to Evisu’s new denim line designed by Catherine Holstein. This look is causal comfort combined with a little whimsy and edge. I love the menswear for every season and I think every girl should own a few men’s button-down shirts. Try finding a loose silk version and a classic cotton preferably in a light color (white, light blue, or white). These colors look great with everything and can be worn in every season. Some other ways to achieve this look is a pair of boyfriend jeans. I love how the Evisu version is more fitted then a lot of other versions. It allows for you to pair it with a beautiful heel or a hot pair of booties and not look like you got dressed in the dark. Another thing that I am obsessed with right now is belts. I am looking for that perfect shade of light brown. I think this one by Linea Pelle may be just what I am looking for. Lastly, keep your hair loose and messy. You can achieve this by wrapping the hair loosely around a curling iron or scrunching it with some curling gel while damp (just watch out for wet hair combined with wind. You may look like a frizz ball like I do above).
