My name is Sarah, I just turned 34. I am the owner and editor in chief of Skylar Magazine, which is an online magazine that use to be in print. It’s an eclectic magazine. I am have very eclectic taste in pretty much everything -fashion, makeup, food, music, men, people etc. I guess you could say I’m pretty well-rounded. Having my own magazine is something I’ve wanted since age 12, that was when I discovered Vogue magazine. I was an aspiring model and when I found out I would have to be tall to do that, I had a hard time dealing with it. So, I decided some day, I was going to have my own magazine, so that I could discover my own models and talent, but my models would be various shapes and sizes. Fashion and writing have always been my true passions. I’ve been writing since age 7 and I was always drawn to pretty sparkly things. My inspiration initially began with the Wizard of Oz and “Miss Show Business”, Judy Garland. I just loved those ruby red slippers! In the 6th grade I established a goal and here I am 18 years later, doing what I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve definitely come a long way, but I’m not quite finished yet. There is a lot more to be done. I would like to turn this thing into a well-known, successful magazine and brand.
As much as I love fashion and still consider Vogue to be the best magazine ever, there are things about that industry I frankly do not like. I want to create an image that is healthier and more positive, for people of all ages, but especially young women and teens. I work with my own models and I’m currently looking for fresh new faces to work with who will help me make Skylar more diverse. This opportunity is for women who are 18 years of age or older, various shapes and sizes, all races and women from pretty much all walks of life. You can find out more about this and Skylar at my blog.
