The Faux trend first surfaced on Chictopia's streetstyle gallery in Summer 2009 seen on Berkeley blogger Speedbump. She wore her brown H&M faux glasses with a purple vintage floral sheer tiered long sleeve dress, brown thrifted belt, and brown Marni platform lucite shoes. Since then, Faux clothing has grown in popularity as bloggers from Seattle, Portland, and Murrells Inlet have discovered them. Faux clothing is generally seen in geek, chic, and bohemian style. In November 2010, Chictopia wrote an editorial about Stay Warm This Winter in Faux Fur!. Popular brands of Faux clothing are Tomato, Wetseal, Chanel, wild hearts vintage, and H&M.
