The Cut Out trend first appeared on Chictopia's streetstyle gallery in Winter 2009 seen on Oakland blogger calivintage. She styled her black Dolce Vita cut out shoes with a beige vintage icelandic coat, black American Apparel skirt, and black wolford on ebay wool stockings. Since then, Cut Out clothing has grown in popularity as bloggers from Los Angeles, London, and NY/LA have discovered them. Cut Out clothing is generally seen in casual, chic, and trendy style. In July 2012, Chictopia wrote an editorial about DIY Men's Shirt Into A Cut-Out Dress. Popular brands of Cut Out clothing are asos, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, and Topshop.
