I’ve been wanting to take photographs by this truck for at least a year now, and I finally found the courage and the right outfit to put me there.

The chill invaded my city once again after an entire week of 70’s and shorts, forcing a quick return to the tights and coats still left lingering from winter. Even though the wind was sometimes fierce, I tried to make the most of my solo day excursion full of pizza, pictures, and lots of Bob Dylan. I visited my sister at her restaurant for lunch (yummy pizza!), and then I drove around my old stomping grounds just outside of Little Rock in search of an extra interesting place to explore. It’s funny that just the other day I was bragging on how daring I was with my tripod and camera because today I think I finally found my match.
Just steps off the main highway, tucked behind years of overgrown trees and shrub, sits this creepy abandoned home with windows and doors still ajar and an energy that makes your goosebumps crawl. The piercing silence was nearly unbearable, and every time I turned my back I cringed. I kept checking to make sure I could see the crack of light illuminating from the back door to make certain no one had come through to shut it (I’m getting chills just typing about it). I’m sure it was harmless, and I if someone were with me I would’ve gone in; I just couldn’t do it all by myself. I plan on going back soon (already talked to the guys about going with me), but these outfit photos were about the best I could do for today.
I finished up my day with pretty dresses and lots of antiques at Blue Suede Shoes in Bryant (more on that tomorrow), and tonight I’ll be birthday party hopping (what’s the deal with all the March birthdays??) at strangers houses and grungy dive bars. I’d call that a Saturday success.

Spring is here, and I’m all smiles.
I got my first real taste of it on Sunday when (for the first time this year) I didn’t have to wear panty hose. Yipeeee! I told that to one of my guy friends and his reply was “wow, your excited about that?”. My immediate thought was of you guys. I knew all of you would understand what I was talking about and were probably just as ecstatic about it as I was.

I woke up early this morning with the hopes of responding to blog comments and emails before getting started on my dreadful four page formal analysis paper due in art class later this week, but before I could finish everything I would have liked, my friend Courtney told me about an estate sale here in town. It was the last day of the sale and everything was 50% off, so of course I couldn’t resist the vintage clothing temptation and jetted on my emails! I’m bummed I couldn’t get back to you all (and probably won’t be able to for the next couple of days since my school schedule is jammed packed with tests and papers this week), but fortunately the sale did turn up some great things! I got a few vintage skirts (one in the perfect blue gingham that just screams Dorothy), a nautical swimsuit, some vintage shorts, and a Christian Dior tie (for work). There were a few more things, but I can’t really remember everything right now. Those last day sales are the best! You go in and grab ten or fifteen things, and you only have to pay about 25 bucks. It’s a shopper’s dream!

Since I’ve been so good all semester by only missing one class since school started (because I had to work), I decided to skip French class on Friday to go to an estate sale I had read about earlier in the week. The email I received about it was short and sweet and pretty much said all I needed to know when it mentioned the vintage clothing. I’ve missed a lot of them here lately, and the ones I have been able to make it to have been picked over and hardly worth my time. I decided I had to be the first one there this time around. It was a good move seeing as the woman’s vintage dresses were exactly my size and in the most abundant quantities I’ve seen since visiting the overpriced vintage shop just down the road from my house. I think this one is my favorite, mostly because of the little blue flower buds and the fact that lightweight and girlie. I’ve been on the look out for more sundresses so this one was a welcomed entry to my collection of vintage pieces. Hopefully I can show you more of the dresses throughout the coming week.
